The Nothing phone that glows in the dark is the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, a limited-run model announced on 30 October 2024. Nothing said it made 1,000 units worldwide. It was created through a community co-design project, not introduced as a standard Phone (2a) Plus color option.
What is the glow-in-the-dark Nothing phone?
It is the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition. Nothing Community author Natalie introduced it with the line, “It’s finally here. And yes. It really glows in the dark.” The launch announcement confirms the glow-in-the-dark design, but does not specify how long the glow lasts or provide a technical description of the material. Nothing’s announcement was published on 30 October 2024.
How was the Community Edition created?
Nothing presented the edition as its first co-created product. The work grew from a community redesign project initially announced for the Phone (2a), then adapted for the Phone (2a) Plus. Community contributors were involved in hardware, wallpapers, packaging, and marketing.

How does Japan’s edition differ?
Japan received a Community Edition based on the Phone (2a), rather than the Phone (2a) Plus. Nothing said that Japanese version retained FeliCa support. The announcement does not establish other hardware differences, so they should not be inferred from the model distinction alone.
