Malwarebytes’ free Scam Link Check lets you paste a suspicious URL and see a result labeled safe, dangerous, or unknown. Malwarebytes announced the web tool on October 5, 2026, and says it requires no download, payment, or login. It checks a link’s potential security risk; it does not verify that an Amazon deal, seller, or product is legitimate. Malwarebytes’ launch announcement
How to check a link before opening it
- Copy the URL without opening it. On a phone, press and hold the link to preview or copy it.
- Go to Malwarebytes directly. Open the official Scam Link Check page by navigating to Malwarebytes yourself, then paste the URL into the tool.
- Read the verdict and explanation. Malwarebytes says its analysis looks for malicious sites, phishing pages, freshly registered domains, and redirect chains. The tool can also show a screenshot and suggested next steps.
- Keep investigating if the result is unknown or the offer still seems suspicious. Don’t enter a password or payment details. Open Amazon’s official app or type its known web address yourself, then search for the product there.
Malwarebytes describes the tool and its results in its October 5, 2026 announcement. That description is the company’s account, not an independent accuracy test.
What the results do—and don’t—tell you
- Dangerous: Treat the URL as a risk and don’t proceed to enter information.
- Unknown: The risk is unresolved, not cleared. Verify the offer another way.
- Safe: This is not a guarantee that the deal or destination is legitimate. A URL checker does not authenticate an Amazon listing, seller, price, or product.
Malwarebytes does not claim that Scam Link Check verifies deals or sellers. Its stated purpose is checking a submitted URL, so confirm any supposed Amazon offer through Amazon’s official channels.

Look at the actual domain, not just the link text, Amazon branding, or a familiar product image. Malwarebytes’ link-safety guide identifies misspelled or altered domains, shortened links that conceal their destination, unexpected messages, and urgent prompts as warning signs.

For an Amazon offer, independently open the official app or website and search for the product. Compare the listing, seller, price, and terms on that destination. A logo or photo on an unfamiliar page does not establish that the page belongs to Amazon.
If you already clicked the link
Don’t enter anything else on a suspicious page. If you shared credentials, use a trusted device to change the affected password through the service’s official app or website. If you submitted payment details, contact your bank or payment provider through a verified channel. Malwarebytes’ announcement also gives examples of possible next steps, including changing a password, contacting a bank, or freezing credit where appropriate.
