NordVPN is a strong choice for most people who want a mainstream paid VPN. It has broad device coverage, a no-logs practice that NordVPN says has been independently reviewed six times, and strong 2026 scores from independent reviewers for speed and streaming. The “best” label in the title reflects third-party recommendations, not a universal ranking. It depends on which features you need, which platform you use, and what you will pay after the introductory term ends.
What a NordVPN subscription includes
NordVPN’s official 2026 review says one subscription covers 10 devices. The core VPN encrypts traffic to a NordVPN server and masks your IP address from the sites and services you connect to. NordVPN also lists extras, and it helps to separate the VPN itself from the bundled tools:

- VPN features: a kill switch, which NordVPN lists among its features, and post-quantum encryption.
- Security bundle: malware scanning and malicious-link protection, as listed on NordVPN’s official review page.
- Account tools: dark web monitoring, also listed on NordVPN’s official review page.
Security.org’s 2026 review describes these added tools as appearing on higher-priced tiers. Tier names and bundles can differ by market, so confirm exactly what your plan includes at checkout.

What the no-logs evidence does and does not establish
NordVPN’s official no-logs page says the claim has been independently reviewed six times. The most detailed description appears in its February 2026 announcement. According to that account, Deloitte Lithuania carried out an assurance engagement commissioned at the end of 2025. The engagement used the ISAE 3000 (Revised) framework. Auditors interviewed employees, inspected server infrastructure, configurations, and deployment processes, and covered standard VPN, Double VPN, obfuscated, and Onion Over VPN server types.
Two qualifications apply. This is an assurance report as NordVPN describes it. We have not read the full report, so the scope described here comes from the company’s summary. An assurance review also examines what was in scope at the time of the engagement. It is not a guarantee that the service can never know anything about you. The accurate wording is that NordVPN says its no-logs practices have passed six independent reviews.

What a VPN cannot do
A VPN changes the IP address that destination services see. It does not stop you from identifying yourself. Logging into a personal account, using your real name in a profile, or posting under your own identity reveals who you are whatever route your traffic takes. Phishing and malware are separate problems. The security tools NordVPN bundles address those risks, but the encrypted tunnel does not.

NordVPN’s review page also displays an endorsement from Max Eddy, a software analyst at PCMag: “As VPN services go, it’s hard to beat NordVPN. It has a large and diverse collection of servers, an excellent collection of advanced features, strong privacy and security practices, and approachable clients for every major platform.” This is a third-party opinion that NordVPN chose to display, not an independent test.
Pricing: the introductory price is not the renewal price

- the billing period and whether it is a one-time upfront charge or recurring;
- the upfront total and the renewal total, both with and without applicable tax;
- the market your checkout is set to, since prices and plan bundles vary by country.
Limitations to weigh before you subscribe
- No port forwarding. TechRadar notes this in its 2026 review. It matters if you need inbound connections for P2P or self-hosted services.
- Feature differences between apps. TechRadar notes that features are not identical across platforms, so check the app you will actually use.
- Speed and streaming vary. Results depend on server, location, and time of day, so treat any single test result as a snapshot.
Who should consider another VPN
- Readers who need port forwarding or identical features on every device. TechRadar’s 2026 comparison discusses Surfshark, Private Internet Access, ExpressVPN, and Proton VPN as alternatives. Security.org names Surfshark as an alternative.
- Readers who are choosing mainly on price. Compare renewal totals across providers, not introductory offers.
- Readers who care about a specific audit detail. Check whether a provider’s published audit covers the server types and processes that matter to you.
Optional: a VPN-compatible router for devices without apps
Some devices, such as smart TVs and game consoles, may not run a VPN app. A VPN-compatible router can route traffic from every device on your network. This is optional, and NordVPN does not require it. Compatibility depends on the router’s protocol and firmware support, so check these points before you buy:

- the firmware on the router supports VPN client mode;

The Bottom Line
Verdict: NordVPN suits people who want a mainstream paid VPN with broad device coverage, strong independent test results, and a published no-logs assurance. Before you commit, check the renewal total and the feature set on your own platform, and treat the VPN as one privacy tool rather than a guarantee of anonymity.
