Verdict: NordVPN’s 2025 independent test results show very high NordLynx throughput, broad streaming access and a mature multi-platform app. The important qualifications are just as practical: those speeds came from TechRadar’s 10Gbps cloud test line, streaming access can change, audits have defined scope, renewal pricing can be much higher than the introductory offer, and NordVPN does not provide port forwarding.
How fast is NordVPN?
TechRadar’s November 26, 2025 review measured NordVPN from a cloud PC in Dublin with a 10Gbps connection, using several speed-test sites and tests at different times. Its results are useful for comparing protocols in that setup, not for predicting the speed on a household connection.

TechRadar’s figures indicate excellent capacity on both protocols, with NordLynx leading on the nearby route and OpenVPN retaining strong long-distance results. Your outcome will vary with your ISP, Wi-Fi, device, server load, distance and the route to the destination. Digital Trends also described NordVPN as fast while testing NordVPN Plus from Canada on a 900 Mbps download-and-upload connection; that is one reviewer’s baseline, not a typical-user average.

- Use NordLynx first when the app and network support it; test a nearby server if latency matters.
- Switch servers or protocol when a particular route is congested or blocked.
- Measure on your own line with the VPN off and on; a 1,256 Mbps laboratory result does not mean a 100 Mbps plan will become faster.
Does NordVPN work for streaming?
In TechRadar’s test, NordVPN accessed Netflix libraries in the United States, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. The review also reports successful tests with Disney+, Prime Video, 10Play, 9Now, BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 on Windows 11, a Fire TV Stick, iOS and Android, without VPN-detection warnings.

These are dated review results, not a permanent access guarantee. Streaming services change catalogues and blocking systems, and a VPN does not include a subscription to any streaming platform. Results can differ by country, account, server and device. If a service fails, try another server, confirm the app is current and check the provider’s terms rather than assuming every library will remain available.
Privacy: what the audits establish
NordVPN’s no-logs page says Deloitte performed a fifth examination in 2024 and a sixth in 2025; it identifies earlier examinations by PwC Switzerland. This chronology is NordVPN’s own account of its audit history.
RTINGS’ NordVPN review treats the third-party audits as positive evidence while noting limits on scope and access. An examination evaluates the systems, records and controls made available for that engagement. It does not prove that no data could ever exist, or that future changes to infrastructure will have the same properties. Read the report scope and date as well as the headline “audited” claim.

NordVPN also announced a West Coast Labs evaluation in a June 6, 2025 release distributed through GlobeNewswire. The company says the evaluation followed AMTSO guidelines and covered speed, security and reliability. Because that summary is company-published, it should not be treated as a substitute for the underlying test report.
Apps, platforms and notable features
RTINGS’ page, initially dated March 31, 2025 and subsequently updated, describes apps across many platforms and features including obfuscation, multi-hop connections and Meshnet. Check the current app and plan pages before purchase because platform support, tiers and feature availability can change.
NordVPN’s Trust Center currently describes more than 7,800 servers in 225 locations and says its servers have been upgraded to 10Gbps. Those are vendor infrastructure figures, not independent speed measurements. They also should not be read as a promise that every location has identical capacity.

P2P, port forwarding and other limitations
TechRadar reports that NordVPN has only a handful of P2P-friendly server locations and does not support port forwarding. Ordinary torrent downloads can still work, but the absence of inbound port forwarding matters if you seed heavily, need incoming connections or run a service that depends on a reachable listening port.
- Good fit: browsing, general downloads, travel Wi-Fi protection, and users who value a large app and feature set.
- Check carefully: torrent seeding workflows that depend on inbound connections.
- Do not assume: a large advertised server count means every server is P2P-enabled or equally fast.
Plans, introductory pricing and renewal
WIRED’s 2025 review described a two-year offer costing a little over $100 for an initial 27-month term and warned that renewal moves to the full price. That was a dated, likely geography-specific offer, not a current universal price. Digital Trends’ 2025 review discusses Basic and Plus plans and says Basic supports VPN use on up to 10 devices; verify the current plan names and limits at checkout.
Before paying, compare the complete initial charge, term length, included tier, renewal amount, refund conditions and whether auto-renewal is enabled. Promotional months can make the headline term longer than the paid subscription period. Save the order confirmation so you can see exactly when and at what price the next renewal is scheduled.

What happens when a plan renews?
Unless you cancel under the applicable terms, the subscription generally renews using the renewal price shown in the checkout or account settings, which may be substantially higher than the introductory rate. The exact amount, currency, tax treatment and cancellation path depend on your country and purchase channel. Review those details in your account before the renewal date.

Buy with clear expectations: independent speed figures are test-environment measurements, audit evidence has boundaries, vendor server claims are not benchmarks, streaming access is changeable, and the renewal price deserves as much attention as the introductory deal.

Is NordVPN’s no-logs policy audited?
NordVPN says Deloitte conducted examinations in 2024 and 2025, following earlier PwC Switzerland examinations. RTINGS regards the audits positively but notes scope and access limitations; an audit is not an absolute guarantee about every future system or data state.
Does NordVPN support port forwarding?
