De Sport Case is de leervrije keuze met een satijnen achterplaat. De Modern Leather Case is de beste pick als je patina wilt en zelf kunt kiezen tussen Camino- en Horween-leer. De Clear Leather Case laat de achterkant van je iPhone 18 Pro zien en combineert transparant polycarbonaat met een Horween-leren achterzijde.
Deze vergelijking is gebaseerd op Nomads productinformatie en de Modern Leather-helppagina van Nomad, geraadpleegd in 2026. Er zijn geen onafhankelijke labtests of eigen dagelijkse proeven met de hoesjes verwerkt. Waar een getal van Nomad komt, staat dat erbij. Daarom is de titel aangepast van “getest” naar “vergeleken”.

Sport Case: strak en leervrij
De Sport Case heeft geen leer. Nomad omschrijft de achterkant als glad en de bumpers als grip-vriendelijk. De hoes is volgens Nomad bedoeld voor wie een “stylish, reliable everyday case” zoekt. Dat is een marketingclaim, maar het beschrijft goed de keuze: een egale, matte look die er na maanden hetzelfde uitziet.

Bij de Modern Leather Case verandert de achterkant met het gebruik. Nomad schrijft: “Our custom-made Camino leather develops a unique patina over time while TPU bumpers help protect your iPhone 18 from everyday wear and tear.” Het leer wordt dus donkerder, zachter en krijgt een eigen karakter. Dat is precies wat je wilt als je van leer houdt, maar het betekent ook dat je geen gelijkmatig nieuw uiterlijk kunt verwachten.

Clear Leather Case: de telefoon zichtbaar houden
De Clear Leather Case is de enige van de drie met een transparante achterkant. Hierdoor toont de hoes meer van de iPhone 18 Pro zelf, inclusief de kleur van het toestel. Het Horween-leer zit als strook of achterzijde op de hoes en krijgt ook patina. Nomad zegt dat het UV-blokkerende polycarbonaat vergeling tegengaat: “UV-blocking polycarbonate ensures your case stays crystal clear over time.” Dat is een fabrikantclaim en nog niet onafhankelijk gecontroleerd.
Camino of Horween: welk leer past bij jou?
De keuze voor leer bepaalt hoe de Modern Leather Case er op termijn uitziet. Nomad zegt dat Camino is ontwikkeld in samenwerking met de Deense looierij ECCO. Volgens de officiële Modern Leather-gids is Camino iets minder gevoelig voor krassen en vlekken dan Horween.

- Camino: iets minder gevoelig voor krassen en vlekken. Dit is de keuze voor wie minder zorg wil over zichtbare gebruikssporen.
- Horween: Nomad beschrijft het als minimaal behandeld leer dat sneller gebruikssporen opneemt. Die sporen kunnen met de tijd in de patina opgaan. Het is duurder (€69 tegenover €49 op de EU-pagina), maar wie het karakter van ruw leer wil, kiest hier vaak voor.
Beide leersoorten veranderen tijdens gebruik. Nomad noemt voor leerverzorging de Ashland Leather Co Leather Conditioner. Controleer eerst de onderhoudsinstructies op de Nomad-helppagina voor de Modern Leather Case en of het middel geschikt is voor jouw uitvoering, voordat je het gebruikt.
Bescherming en magneten: wat Nomad claimt
Nomad noemt voor alle drie de cases dezelfde specificaties. Dit zijn fabrikantwaarden, geen resultaten van onafhankelijke proeven:

Omdat er geen onafhankelijke vergelijking is, valt niet te zeggen of een van de drie beter beschermt. Het verschil zit vooral in materiaal en uiterlijk.

De EU-productpagina van de Modern Leather Case toonde €49 voor de Camino-versie en €69 voor de Horween-versie. Dit is een momentopname van één regionale pagina in 2026. Prijzen en voorraad kunnen per land en moment verschillen, dus controleer ze voor aankoop.

Voor de Sport Case en Clear Leather Case is geen vergelijkbare Europese prijs beschikbaar in deze bronnen. De Sport-pagina is Brits en de Clear Leather-pagina is Emiraats. De valuta van die pagina’s is niet bruikbaar voor een Nederlandse vergelijking.
De productpagina’s van alle drie noemen compatibiliteit met de iPhone 17 en iPhone 18 Pro. De Modern Leather-helppagina van Nomad zegt dat de cases voor iPhone 17 en iPhone 18 onderling compatibel zijn. Andere modelreeksen passen alleen op de serie waarvoor ze zijn ontworpen. Controleer de SKU en de exacte variant voordat je een hoes koopt.
Welke case past bij jou?
- Kies de Sport Case als je geen leer wilt, een gladde achterkant prefereert en wilt dat de hoes er na lange tijd hetzelfde uitziet. Je krijgt ook extra knoppen in Stellar Orange.
- Kies de Modern Leather Case als je patina wilt. Kies Camino als je minder gebruikssporen wilt, en Horween als je het ruwe karakter en de duurdere variant de moeite waard vindt.
- Kies de Clear Leather Case als je de kleur van de iPhone wilt laten zien en een leren detail wilt. Let op dat de lanyard-bevestiging en de Camera Control-knop bij deze hoes niet zijn bevestigd. Controleer die punten op de productpagina voordat je koopt.
Wie vooral beschermingsverschillen zoekt, vindt in deze bronnen geen bewijs voor een verschil tussen de drie. De keuze draait om materiaal, uiterlijk en prijs.
