The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is a 1,600W, fully modular power supply built on Seasonic’s PRIME TX platform and fitted with Noctua’s NF-A12x25 fan and a custom fan grille. Its distinguishing feature is lower fan noise, not a requirement that a PC draw 1,600W: that rating is the unit’s maximum capacity. Noctua announced the collaboration on November 25, 2024; its noise and efficiency figures are manufacturer-published results, not independent testing.
What the Noctua–Seasonic power supply is
The PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition combines Seasonic’s high-capacity PRIME TX-1600 platform with a Noctua NF-A12x25 HS-PWM 120mm fan and a custom fan grille. The PSU is fully modular, uses an ATX/EPS form factor, and measures 210 × 150 × 86 mm. Its 1,600W rating is the maximum combined +12V output; it does not mean a computer continuously uses that much power. The collaboration was presented on November 25, 2024. Noctua’s announcement introduced it as the first Noctua Edition power supply.
How quiet it is—and what the figures mean
Noctua attributes the acoustic improvement to the fan and grille design. Its announcement says the Edition is about 8–10 dB(A) quieter than the standard PRIME TX-1600’s 135mm fan, and gives approximate full-load figures of 24 dB(A) for the Edition versus 34 dB(A) for the regular model at ambient temperatures up to 25°C. Those comparisons are manufacturer claims and are tied to the stated conditions.

In that acoustic-rating context, the Edition is listed as Lambda A++, compared with Lambda A for the regular model. These rating figures are not interchangeable with a guarantee of the sound level in every PC: actual noise depends on load, ambient temperature, case airflow, and other system components. When the PSU fan turns on
The PSU uses semi-passive fan control. Noctua says the fan can remain off at loads up to around 50% when ambient temperature is 25°C or lower. That is a conditional operating description, not a promise that the fan will stay off in every system at half load: warmer surroundings or other operating conditions can change fan behavior. The included NF-A12x25 HS-PWM fan is specified for a 0–2,400 rpm speed range; that specification describes the installed component, not a recommendation to open or modify the power supply.
Power, connectors, efficiency and warranty
The published specification lists maximum combined +12V output of 1,600W and support for ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1. It includes two 12V-2×6 connectors, three 4/8-pin ATX12V connectors, six 6/8-pin PCIe connectors, 18 SATA connectors and three PATA connectors. Check that your case has room for the 210mm-long unit and that the supplied connector types and cable reach suit your components before buying.

Noctua’s feature page specifies 94% efficiency at 50% load; its specification page separately lists 94% average efficiency. Treat these as manufacturer-stated figures and retain the distinction between a load-specific figure and an average. Full specifications are on Noctua’s specification page.

Is 1,600W appropriate for your PC?
Capacity is available headroom, not power the PSU forces a PC to consume. Whether 1,600W is appropriate depends on the components and their power requirements, the number and type of GPU power connectors needed, and the rest of the system. For an ordinary gaming PC, the announcement alone is not evidence that this capacity is necessary. Compare the PSU’s output and connectors with the requirements of the actual build; also account for its 210mm length and the chassis’s clearance.

Noctua announced launch MSRPs of EUR 499 and USD 569 on November 25, 2024. Those are historical launch prices, not current street prices.
