Noah Kahan’s “Draw You Out” arrived October 2, 2026, as the lead single from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album). Written specifically for the upcoming film, the song pairs Kahan’s emotionally direct songwriting with Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote and co-produced the track.
What “Draw You Out” is—and when it was released
“Draw You Out” is Kahan’s original song for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Universal Music Canada announced the single as out on October 2, 2026, making it the first release from the companion soundtrack album, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album).
The label’s announcement scheduled the album for November 13, 2026, and the film for theatrical release on November 20, 2026. Those are announced dates and could change; readers should confirm them with the label or distributor closer to release.

Why Kahan wrote the song
The song was inspired by the story of Haymitch and Lenore Dove in Suzanne Collins’s Sunrise on the Reaping. Kahan said he was moved by their “tragic yet hopeful” story and by the purpose, grief and perseverance through pain that the characters represent.

- THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES (MUSIC FROM & INSPIRED BY) IS THE OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK TO THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW FILM IN THE HUNGER GAMES SAGA
In a statement reported by Rolling Stone Canada, Kahan called writing for the film an opportunity he had always wanted, adding that he was grateful to contribute to a story connected to Collins’s work, which he said he has long admired.
Kahan and Aaron Dessner reunite
Dessner co-wrote and co-produced “Draw You Out” with Kahan. Their partnership places the single in the same songwriter-producer conversation that has shaped much of Kahan’s recent work, while giving the track a direct connection to the film’s specific characters and themes.

The song’s central emotional image
Rolling Stone Canada described the chorus as aching and quoted the lines: “I carry you on with me/I promised you I would, and I do.” Read literally, those words suggest a speaker keeping another person’s memory alive and treating remembrance as a promise. They offer a window into the song’s emotional center without establishing every detail of its narrative.
Where it was recorded
The official label notice names three studios involved in the recording:

- East Iris Studios in Nashville
The announcement identifies the locations but does not provide a session-by-session breakdown of which performances or production stages took place at each studio.
How it fits the franchise’s music history
The Hunger Games films have previously produced prominent original songs, including Taylor Swift featuring The Civil Wars’ “Safe & Sound” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Can’t Catch Me Now.” Those tracks provide useful context for the franchise’s tradition of pairing its stories with intimate, character-focused songwriting. Available coverage does not establish a chart, streaming or sales comparison between those songs and “Draw You Out.”

What listeners can take from the release
“Draw You Out” is best understood as a purpose-built film song rather than an unrelated single placed on a soundtrack after the fact. Kahan’s comments point to a composition shaped by grief and endurance, while the quoted chorus presents carrying someone forward as an act of loyalty. The result is a bridge between the personal scale of Kahan’s writing and the larger tragedy at the heart of Haymitch and Lenore Dove’s story.
