If your Nissan does not show your phone, or the phone never pairs, start with the Bluetooth setting on each device and then restart the pairing from the vehicle. In most cases that sequence settles it within a few minutes. Nissan’s menu labels change with navigation equipment and model year, so treat the paths below as Nissan’s general U.S. steps and check your owner’s manual if a screen looks different.
Five-minute fix for a Nissan that cannot see your phone
- Park before you start. Use the infotainment screen only while the vehicle is safely parked.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone. Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings and confirm Bluetooth is on. Nissan’s general U.S. pairing guide begins with this check (Nissan USA, “NissanConnect Device Connectivity: Connect Your Device”).
- Put the vehicle into its add-device flow. Use the route that matches your equipment in the table below.
- Match the entry and the code. On the phone, select MY-CAR when it appears. Before you accept, confirm that the PIN on the phone matches the PIN on the vehicle display, then confirm any additional prompts on either screen.
- If the connection still fails, work through the causes below. Check each one that applies to your setup.
- Confirm the phone is listed as compatible. Compatibility depends on your exact vehicle and phone.
- Escalate if the phone is compatible and re-registration still fails. Consult the owner’s manual for your exact model year or contact Nissan or your dealer.
How do I connect my phone in my Nissan?
Nissan’s general U.S. guidance describes two common pairing routes. Which one applies depends on whether the vehicle has navigation.

If neither path matches what you see, do not guess through the menus. Look up the Bluetooth or phone section in the owner’s manual for your model year.

Causes to check when the connection fails
The troubleshooting table in Nissan’s 2024 NissanConnect navigation manual lists the following possible causes of a connection failure. This list comes from one 2024 manual for one system, so it is not a guaranteed diagnosis for every Nissan. Check each item that applies to you:

- Bluetooth is off in the vehicle. Turn it on in the vehicle’s Bluetooth settings.
- Bluetooth is off on the phone. Turn it on in the phone’s settings.
- Registration was incomplete. Register the phone again from the start of the pairing steps above.
- The phone is not compatible. See the compatibility section below.
- The phone battery is low. Charge the phone, then try again. Choose a cable that matches your phone and the vehicle’s charging port. A cable helps only in this case; it does not fix pairing or compatibility problems.
- The phone is placed where it disrupts the wireless connection. Move it away from the obstructed spot, then register again.
Check compatibility before you repeat the steps
Nissan’s compatibility checker asks for the vehicle type, model, model year, whether the vehicle has navigation, and your phone’s device information. Enter your own details, because a result for another model or year does not apply to yours. No universal claim can be made that every modern smartphone works with every Nissan. Nissan itself directs owners to its compatibility information for that reason.
When to escalate
If the checker lists your phone as compatible and careful re-registration still fails, use the owner’s manual for your exact vehicle, or contact Nissan or your dealer. Nissan publishes official support routes on its own pages.

What not to do first
- Do not delete every paired device or reset vehicle settings as a first step. The sources available for this guide do not establish that either action is necessary or risk-free for your model.
- Do not expect a fixed time. The five-minute steps cover the most common causes, but a compatibility check or a persistent fault can take longer.
Device list limits
Nissan’s general feature page states that the system supports up to five phones, with only one usable at a time. That is a general statement, not a model-specific one. If the list in your vehicle looks crowded or behaves unexpectedly, check your manual for the limit on your system before removing entries.
