The free Nintendo Switch download in the My Mario line is Hello, Mario!, an interactive app for young children—not a collection of traditional full-length games. Nintendo also offers it for compatible smart devices and says it can be played on Nintendo Switch 2. My Mario is a broader collection of digital and physical products for children and parents.
What free My Mario apps can you get?
Nintendo’s U.S. launch announcement named Hello, Mario! as a free app for Nintendo Switch and compatible smart devices. It launched in the U.S. on February 19, 2026. Nintendo says it is playable on Nintendo Switch 2 as well. Nintendo describes the software as an app; families looking for a conventional game should know that distinction before downloading. Nintendo’s U.S. launch announcement has the original launch details.
An April 9, 2026 update added Hello, Yoshi!, also free for compatible smart devices, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo describes its interactions as including peekaboo, with Yoshi eventually falling asleep. The company frames that moment as an opportunity for parents to take a screen break; that is Nintendo’s product description, not independent child-development guidance. My Mario is Nintendo’s collection of products, games, and experiences inspired by Mario and other Mushroom Kingdom characters, designed for young children and parents to enjoy together. It includes the apps, physical play and reading products, clothing, soft toys, and stop-motion videos; the toys and books are separate products, not bundles with the free apps. Nintendo’s My Mario page describes the collection as designed for babies and young children.

Where and when is My Mario available?
The U.S. launch began February 19, 2026, at Nintendo NEW YORK and Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO. Nintendo said select U.S. retailers would begin receiving products in spring, with availability expanding during the year. Its current My Mario page lists those two stores and select retailers, and notes that stock and regional availability may vary. It does not establish current retailer inventory or U.S. prices, so check a retailer or Nintendo’s page for the item you want.
Availability is not uniform worldwide. Nintendo first announced My Mario in Japan on August 8, 2025, with initial products scheduled for August 26 at Nintendo TOKYO, OSAKA, and KYOTO. That announcement said selected products would launch outside Japan beginning in 2026. The U.S. launch and April update describe U.S. offerings; they do not confirm that every Japanese or U.S. item is sold in every country. See Nintendo’s Japan announcement for its original regional details.

Choosing what to explore
The collection spans different kinds of play rather than one all-in-one product. The apps are digital interactions for a Switch or compatible smart device; blocks are for building and character play; the board book is for reading; and TOMY Toomies products are for bath play. Families interested in amiibo use should check the specific block set and the game’s compatibility. These are distinctions among product types, not a claim that a particular item suits every child.
