What membership do you need?
The Genesis library is included with an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, not the standard Nintendo Switch Online tier. Nintendo’s Expansion Pack information describes the broader membership; benefits and terms can vary by region and system.

One-click scans. No signup required.
After downloading the Classics app, you can play the games offline, but Nintendo requires the console to connect to the internet at least once every seven days to verify membership. If membership expires, access to the games ends; save data remains on the console. Nintendo says its classic libraries will continue to grow, so the catalog may change.

Features and compatibility
Nintendo lists rewind, save-state support, and online play for the Genesis collection. Online play applies only where a game’s original multiplayer features support it; it does not make every title multiplayer. Supported one- or two-player modes can be played together, while some single-player games offer turn-taking.
