Nintendo has officially revealed a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 for the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The system is scheduled to release October 29, 2026, but despite “bundle” wording that may suggest otherwise, the console package does not include a game. The Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is sold separately and is announced for November 5.

What Nintendo revealed

Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition on September 8, 2026, as part of the series’ anniversary celebration. Nintendo lists the US release date as October 29, 2026. Nintendo’s announcement and US product listing describe a themed edition of Switch 2 hardware, not a game-included package.

What is included—and what is not

The anniversary design appears on the system and dock. Nintendo describes the dock as black and gold with a Triforce symbol; the included Joy-Con 2 controllers are green and gold. The package includes:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 console
  • Left and right Joy-Con 2 controllers
  • Nintendo Switch 2 dock
  • Joy-Con 2 grip and two Joy-Con 2 straps
  • AC adapter and USB-C charging cable
  • Ultra High Speed HDMI cable

The game is not included. Nintendo’s product listing explicitly says so. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 is a separate release announced for November 5, 2026—one week after the anniversary system’s listed release date. Nintendo says the first print run of the physical game will have textured foil cover art while supplies last; that special packaging applies to the separately sold game, not the console package.

Separate anniversary accessories and products

Nintendo also announced Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller versions and a carrying case with a screen protector. These are separate products, not items in the console package. Nintendo says the Pro Controller package that includes a display stand is available only at Nintendo Store, Nintendo NEW YORK, and Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO; check those stores’ current listings for availability.
