The Ninja FrostVault 50-quart hard cooler (model FB151WH) has a reported five-day ice-retention result—but that figure comes from Tom’s Guide’s test, not a five-day guarantee from Ninja. Tom’s Guide also reported an Amazon price of $199, down from $249, on October 5, 2026. That is a dated deal report, not confirmation that the offer is still live.
What supports the five-day ice claim?
Tom’s Guide reported that its writer tested the FrostVault and found the ice completely frozen after five days; the article also says soda cans remained completely cold after eight days. Those are results attributed to that publication’s test. The available account does not establish a controlled laboratory protocol or independent replication, so treat them as editorial test results rather than a guaranteed outcome in every trip or weather condition.
Ninja’s product page describes ice retention as lasting “for days” but does not specify five days. Its stated feature is FrostVault technology, which transfers cold into a separate Dry Zone intended to keep food cool, dry, and separate at food-safe temperatures under 40°F for days. Ninja’s official product listing is the source for that product description.

The report is a snapshot; the current price, stock, deal duration, Prime eligibility, shipping terms, and exact listing variant have not been verified. What the FrostVault offers beyond ice retention
Ninja lists the cooler at 50 quarts, with capacity for up to 80 cans without ice or 45 cans with ice. Those are different loading configurations, so the larger can count should not be read as the usable capacity when ice is also packed.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the live price, seller, stock, shipping terms, and model number on the retailer listing. The October 5 price report does not establish today’s offer.
- Decide whether the Dry Zone drawer is useful for your food and packing needs; it is the distinctive feature beyond ordinary cooler storage.
- Compare the 45-can capacity with ice against what you actually need to carry. The 80-can figure applies without ice.
- Check the listed dimensions and 29.01-pound empty weight against your vehicle, storage, and carrying needs.
- If considering accessories, Ninja’s page shows FrostVault ice packs and a divider insert/cutting board. Verify compatibility with FB151WH and current availability on the retailer listing before purchasing.
How to interpret the claim when comparing coolers
Ice-retention claims are useful only when their source and test conditions are clear. For this model, the five-day figure is Tom’s Guide’s reported test result, while Ninja’s own page says ice lasts “for days.” The cited sources do not provide comparable test results for rival coolers, so they are not enough to establish that the FrostVault outperforms other hard coolers. Compare capacity with ice loaded, transport features, dimensions, the value of a separate dry-food drawer, warranty terms, and the conditions behind each brand’s retention claim.
