The Nike Pegasus 41 is a neutral road-running daily trainer built around ReactX foam and two Air Zoom units. It is a plausible everyday option if you want a familiar, responsive-style ride and its relatively high drop suits your preference; fit and forefoot feel are less certain. Whether it is worth buying now depends heavily on its current local price beside the Pegasus 42.
What the Pegasus 41 is—and what its specs mean
Nike positions the Pegasus 41 for road running. Its construction pairs ReactX foam with Air Zoom units in the heel and forefoot, an engineered mesh upper, and a waffle-inspired rubber outsole. Nike describes ReactX as 13% more responsive than its previous React technology; that percentage is a manufacturer claim, not an independent comparative test. Nike’s product page advertises a 10 mm heel-to-toe drop and an approximate weight of 297 g for a men’s size 9.
Reviewers’ measurements differ, so treat stack height and drop figures as source-specific rather than one definitive geometry. RTINGS reports 36.0 mm at the heel and 24.6 mm at the forefoot, for a measured 11.4 mm drop. RunRepeat also reports an 11.4 mm drop, while Believe in the Run lists a 37 mm heel stack and 27 mm forefoot stack, yielding 10 mm. Different shoes, sizes, and measurement methods can produce different results.
Weight comparisons also depend on size: Believe in the Run lists 296 g for a US men’s 10.5 and 243 g for a women’s 7.5, while Nike’s approximate 297 g figure is for a men’s size 9. Those figures should not be compared as if they were the same size.

How the Pegasus 41 feels for daily running
In Believe in the Run’s hands-on review, the midsole feels soft yet bouncy, but the forefoot feels thin. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee that every runner will find it comfortable. The same review identifies the shoe as a daily-training option.
RTINGS notes that the relatively high measured drop may provide guidance through footstrike for heel strikers. This is a preference cue, not a promise about gait, performance, or injury prevention. If you prefer a lower drop or need a particular level of forefoot cushioning, try the shoe on and judge the ride for yourself.
Rank #2
- ReactX foam midsole surrounds forefoot and heel Air Zoom units for an energized ride. It's 13% more responsive than previous React technology.
- Signature waffle-inspired rubber outsole provides traction and flexibility.
- Plush collar, tongue and sockliner provide a secure and comfortable fit.
Does the Pegasus 41 fit true to size?
The available fit signals are mixed rather than conclusive. Nike says the MR-10 last is the same as the Pegasus 40, and RunRepeat labels the fit true to size. In contrast, one Nike Singapore customer review dated August 19, 2026, says a US size 13 felt smaller than that customer’s previous Nike running shoes. A single report does not establish a general sizing rule.
- If you are between sizes, have a wider foot, or are ordering without trying the shoe on, check the seller’s current size chart and return policy.
- Whenever possible, try the shoe on and assess both length and forefoot comfort rather than relying on another model’s fit alone.
Pegasus 41 vs. Pegasus 42: which should you choose?
Tom’s Guide’s May 25, 2026 comparison found the Pegasus 42’s full-length Air Zoom unit smoother and livelier during that reviewer’s short comparison run. In the US men’s size 10 tested, the newer shoe weighed 10.8 oz versus 10.3 oz for the Pegasus 41. These are that article’s test observations, not universal results for every size or runner.
Rank #3
- Nike Pegasus 41 Men's Running Shoe
- Men to Women Sizing
- 8.5 Men = 10 Women
| Consideration | Pegasus 41 | Pegasus 42 |
|---|---|---|
| Ride observation in Tom’s Guide comparison | Less smooth and lively than the 42 in that reviewer’s short run | Full-length Air Zoom felt smoother and livelier to that reviewer |
| Weight in US men’s size 10, per Tom’s Guide | 10.3 oz | 10.8 oz |
| Outsole coverage, per Tom’s Guide | Not compared in the cited summary | Less rubber coverage; the author’s durability concern was an expectation, not a long-term test result |
The comparison does not establish that the 42 will feel better for every runner or last longer or shorter in real-world use. If you are considering the newer model, evaluate it in person when possible and compare current local prices and return terms.

It can be worth considering if you want a neutral road-running shoe for everyday training, like the cushioning-and-bounce description, and find a fit that works. Its value depends on today’s price for your size and location. Tom’s Guide reported a US full price of $140 and sub-$100 offers at some US retailers in its May 2026 article; those are dated observations, not a current price or availability guarantee. Check local listings for your size and color before deciding. A substantial saving may make the older model attractive, while a runner who prioritizes the updated ride may prefer to assess the Pegasus 42.
