For a smaller or regional business that wants a straightforward cloud phone service with familiar small-business features and a choice of contract lengths, Nextiva is the sensible first name to shortlist. 8×8 deserves a closer look when international calling across many countries, a combined contact-center and unified communications setup, or specific Microsoft Teams requirements matter most. Neither is a universal winner. The right choice depends on your seat count, calling footprint, the exact applications you need to connect, and what each vendor will put in writing.
Pin down your requirements before comparing
Comparisons of these two products are only useful if you hold the variables constant. Before requesting quotes, write down:
- Seat count by role: how many users need a full line, how many need only a shared or basic extension, and how many are contact-center agents.
- Calling footprint: the countries your staff and customers call, whether you need local numbers in those countries, and whether you need emergency calling there.
- Systems you must connect: your CRM, helpdesk, email, and chat tools, and whether your team runs Microsoft Teams.
- Hardware plan: whether you want desk phones bought, leased, or your existing devices reused.
- Uptime and support expectations: what happens to your phones during an outage, and who answers when something breaks.
Pricing: what the published numbers show
Published prices for these products are partial, dated, and not quotes. The table below shows what the most recent third-party and vendor pages report.

Two details change the math. Business.com reports that month-to-month Nextiva plans may cost up to 50% more than annual billing, depending on setup and contract terms. Nextiva’s own pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026, asks businesses to request a custom quote, offers monthly plans, and lists 12-, 24-, and 36-month terms as the way to save. Business News Daily’s April 2026 comparison shows a different starting price for Nextiva than Business.com does, which is a reminder that a single displayed number reflects one product, one date, and one set of assumptions.

Nextiva’s pricing page states that every plan includes unlimited nationwide calling and professional calling features such as auto attendant, hold music, and call forwarding. Treat that as a floor, not a full feature list, and check which features your chosen tier actually includes.
Features: call handling, messaging, and contact center
Core call handling and messaging
8×8’s business phone page describes cloud PBX, auto-attendant, voicemail, flexible call flows, voice and video calling, private messaging and team chat, call recordings, and integrations. Business.com describes Nextiva’s NextivaONE desktop and mobile apps and threaded customer conversations. Nextiva’s plan comparison says messaging, social channels, and other customer-experience features appear in its higher offerings, and warns that setup, implementation, and usage fees may apply on top.
Both pages are vendor descriptions. Confirm that each feature you care about appears in the exact package on the quote, not just in the marketing material.

Integrations: match the workflow, not the count
Integration lists are the easiest thing to compare and the least useful on their own. The table shows which named integrations appear in the sources reviewed for this comparison.
| Application | Nextiva | 8×8 |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce | Listed in Nextiva’s plan comparison | Listed in Business News Daily |
| HubSpot | Listed in Nextiva’s plan comparison | Not stated |
| Zendesk | Listed in Nextiva’s plan comparison | Listed in Business News Daily |
| Microsoft Dynamics 365 | Listed in Business News Daily | Listed in Business News Daily |
| Microsoft 365 / Outlook | Not stated | Listed in Business News Daily |
| Microsoft Teams | Not stated | Cited in 8×8’s customer testimonial (see below); not otherwise detailed |
| Google Workspace, Slack, Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, NetSuite, ServiceNow | Not stated | Listed in Business News Daily |
Business News Daily notes that availability varies by plan on both sides, and that each catalog contains products the other lacks. Before you decide, ask each vendor whether your exact workflow is supported: which fields sync, in which direction, for which user tier, and on which plan.
Contact center and video
8×8 positions itself for organizations with larger international teams and contact-center needs. Business.com reports that 8×8 video meetings support 500 participants, but that figure should be checked against the package you are quoting. Nextiva’s higher tiers add customer-experience messaging and social channels, which matters if your support team handles conversations across more than voice.
Rank #3

International calling and uptime claims
Countries and numbers
8×8’s comparison page claims full PSTN replacement in 55 or more countries, and Business.com reports that 8×8’s phone-number support spans 55 or more countries. Both are vendor-published or vendor-influenced figures; they describe reach, not the quality of calls in each country. A comparable country count for Nextiva is not stated in the comparison sources cited here.
For any shortlisted provider, verify in writing:
- Which countries you need, and whether local numbers are available in each one.
- Emergency calling arrangements in every country where staff will work.
- Per-minute or bundled rates for the destinations you actually call.
- How number porting works, who initiates it, and how long it takes.
Uptime and SLA: a vendor claim, and a difference in backing
8×8’s comparison page states a 99.999% platform SLA that it describes as financially backed. The same page describes Nextiva’s 99.999% uptime claim as not financially backed. These are 8×8’s characterizations of its own offering and of a competitor’s, and neither figure is an independent measurement of actual uptime.
When you read an SLA, look past the headline percentage to the credit formula, the exclusions, the claim procedure and deadline, and whether service credits are the only remedy. A financially backed commitment and an unbacked target can look identical in a sales deck and differ sharply when an outage happens.
Rank #4

- Advanced Call Blocking: Panasonic cordless phone Automated Call Block pre-blocks robocalls. Telemarketing Call Block lets you block announced callers; block 1K more with 1-touch Call Block Button
- Record Your Calls: 2-Way Call Recording with this business phone helps you never miss an important detail in business conversations to confirm what was said and avoid mistakes; the Recording Start button makes it easy and deters nuisance calls
Support, contract terms, and the customer testimonial
Business.com describes 24/7 technical support for both vendors, but distinguishes Nextiva’s support from 8×8’s customer service phone hours, which the comparison does not state. Support summaries change, and they do not tell you the response targets you will receive. Ask for these in the proposal:
- Support channels and hours, including whether they differ for administrators and end users.
- Response and resolution targets by severity level.
- Onboarding help, training, and who configures call flows during migration.
- Renewal, auto-renewal, and cancellation terms, including early-termination fees.
- Number-porting responsibilities and the named escalation contact.
Nextiva’s pricing page lists 12-, 24-, and 36-month terms. Compare how each vendor handles a mid-term seat reduction, because a long term can lock in seats you no longer need.

“We did an evaluation of four or five platforms, and 8×8 came out on top. The decision ultimately came down to flexibility, a Microsoft Teams-certified contact center solution, and outstanding support from 8×8’s advisors.”
This is a customer testimonial published by 8×8, not an independent evaluation. It is most useful as a pointer to the Teams and contact-center questions you should ask 8×8 directly.

Hardware is optional but important for many offices. Business.com reports that Nextiva sells or leases desk phones and can support conversion of analog devices. 8×8’s FY2026 business highlights, from its investor material for the first quarter of 2026, name Yealink and Grandstream devices and Jabra accessories as part of its offering.

Those references establish that both vendors work with physical endpoints. They do not establish that any particular model will work with a particular plan. Before buying or leasing:
- Confirm the exact model is supported by the provider, including provisioning method and firmware requirements.
- Confirm the device supports the emergency-calling behavior your locations require.
- Decide whether devices are bought, leased, or whether you will bring existing hardware under a bring-your-own-device arrangement.
- Ask whether the vendor will ship and configure devices, and who handles returns.
How to run a fair side-by-side quote
- Send both vendors the same seat list, with roles, contact-center agents, and shared lines identified separately.
- Specify one term (for example, 12 months), one billing cycle, and whether you need month-to-month pricing as a comparison point.
- List every country, local number, and toll-free number you need, along with estimated monthly minutes to each destination.
- Name each integration and the exact workflow it must support, and ask the vendor to confirm the plan that includes it.
- Request the SLA, support terms, and escalation contacts in writing, not only as a web page reference.
- Ask for a total first-year cost that includes setup, implementation, hardware, taxes, usage, and add-ons, since Nextiva’s own plan comparison warns that setup, implementation, and usage fees may apply.
- Run a trial of your most important workflow, such as an inbound call that routes to a CRM record, before you sign.
Who should shortlist which provider
Start with Nextiva if
- You have a smaller or regional team and want a conventional cloud phone service with familiar professional features.
- Your calling is mostly domestic, and you would like the option of 12-, 24-, or 36-month terms.
- Your integration needs are concentrated in Salesforce, HubSpot, or Zendesk, and you have confirmed them on the plan you would buy.
Give 8×8 a closer review if
- Your staff or customers are spread across many countries, and you need country-by-country confirmation of calling and number availability.
- You run, or plan to run, contact-center operations alongside phones and need one platform for voice, video, messaging, and agent workflows.
- Microsoft Teams integration is a hard requirement, since it is the one area where 8×8’s materials make a specific claim and Nextiva’s sources are silent.
- You want a financially backed SLA and are willing to read its terms closely.
