Omeire left New Mexico’s September 26 game at New Mexico State, a 42–18 Lobos win. The Journal reported that coach Jason Eck initially described the injury as a sprained ankle. It then reported that a University of New Mexico spokesperson confirmed Omeire had injured his Achilles tendon. The ankle description was the initial characterization, not the later reported confirmation.

What does New Mexico lose without him?
Through four games with the Lobos, Omeire had six receptions for 112 yards, the team’s third-highest receiving-yardage total, according to the Journal. New Mexico had brought him in from UNLV expecting him to be its top receiver.

The Journal identified Bailen George, Zhaiel Smith, DJ Darling, and Massiah Mingo as receivers expected to take on more responsibility. That was the newspaper’s contemporary expectation, not a guarantee of a fixed depth chart.
Omeire’s college background
The New Mexico roster biography lists Omeire at 6 feet 5 inches and 226 pounds and identifies him as a Houston native in his seventh year. Before joining New Mexico, he played for UNLV, Arizona State, and Texas. In 2025 at UNLV, he recorded 31 catches for 514 yards and five touchdowns. At Arizona State in 2023, he had 20 catches for 223 yards and three touchdowns in nine games; his time at Texas included limited appearances after he missed the 2020 and 2021 seasons with injuries.
