There is no supported way to bypass Netflix’s household checks. What you can do depends on whether you are temporarily away from the account holder’s home or live somewhere else: travelers can follow Netflix’s temporary-viewing verification flow, while people outside the household need their own account or an eligible extra-member invitation.
What Netflix means by an account household
Netflix describes a household as the devices connected to the internet at the main place where the account holder watches Netflix. Its Help Center says, “You may not share your Netflix account outside of your household.” People who live elsewhere are directed to use their own account or, where eligible, join as an extra member. Netflix’s sharing guidance explains the household boundary and account options.

If you are traveling with the account
If you are an authorized account user temporarily away from home, use the travel or temporary-viewing option Netflix presents on the affected device. Follow the on-screen identity-verification instructions; depending on the flow, the code is sent through the account’s available contact route. The localized Netflix travel instructions describe a four-digit temporary code that expires after 15 minutes.
- Open Netflix on the device displaying the household warning.
- Select the displayed option, such as “I’m Traveling” or “Watch Temporarily,” if available.
- Request the temporary code and enter it as instructed before it expires. You may need access to the account holder’s email or phone, depending on Netflix’s verification flow.
The option may be unavailable if the account has a problem or the device has reached its temporary-code request limit. Netflix advises travelers to open the app on a device connected to the household’s Wi-Fi at least once a month to help avoid interruptions. This is travel guidance, not a way to establish ongoing access for someone who lives outside the household.

If you live outside the account holder’s household
The supported choices are to open your own Netflix account or ask the account holder to add you as an extra member if that option is available for their account. Extra-member access is conditional on country, plan, billing route, and package. Netflix says some ad-supported plans, third-party billed accounts, and bundles are excluded; the account holder should check the current account page for availability.

If you suspect someone else is using your account
Unexpected device activity is an account-security issue, not a household-sharing workaround. Netflix recommends changing the password and signing out of devices the account holder does not recognize. Its account-security instructions also explain that signing out of all devices disconnects every device on the account, so the owner will need to sign back in on devices they still want to use. A password manager can help you maintain a unique password, but it does not change who qualifies to use the account.

What not to rely on
Netflix’s documented options are temporary travel verification and account-level access through a separate account or eligible extra-member slot. The help guidance does not provide a supported bypass. A VPN, router change, device swap, or repeated code requests should not be treated as a reliable way to defeat household checks or authorize ongoing use from another home.
