That one decision—keep a Soul Card to attack, or discard it to move—gives its short levels a satisfying puzzle-like edge. It is best suited to players who enjoy precision platforming, fast retries and shaving time off a route; its character-focused story and dialogue provide a slower counterpoint between runs.

How the Soul Card system shapes each run
Soul Cards are both weapons and disposable movement tools. Use a card to attack, or discard it to trigger its associated movement ability. That makes each level a constrained route-planning problem: the cards available and the layout affect when to fight, when to spend a card on traversal, and how to reach the goal quickly. The official Xbox description emphasizes this dual use; it is not a conventional deck-building system. Xbox Store
The satisfying part is the loop between a first attempt and the next one. A run reveals where you lost time or missed a possible route; a retry lets you test a different card use, improve your movement, or look for a shortcut. The game’s central appeal is less about clearing a stage once than learning to clear it better. How readily a player reads a route and enjoys repeated attempts is a matter of taste, not a guarantee that every level will click immediately.
#1 Best Overall
- You are Neon White, an assassin handpicked from Hell to compete with other demon slayers for a chance to live permanently in Heaven.

- Neon White is a single-player speedrunning FPS where you can sacrifice your guns for godlike parkour moves.
Replay and story: two different paces
Medals, times and gifts
Replay is built into the experience. MeriStation describes medal rankings, leaderboard chasing and returning to stages as ways to extend play. Gifts provide another reason to revisit content and also unlock additional character dialogue. If you enjoy turning a completed level into a personal time-trial challenge, these systems give you concrete reasons to keep refining runs. MeriStation’s review
Character dialogue between action sections
The action is accompanied by story and visual-novel-style interludes, with gifts extending conversations. This gives the game a character-driven layer beyond its movement challenges, but it also changes the pace: players primarily seeking uninterrupted runs may find the dialogue less compelling, while players interested in the cast have more to follow between stages. That is a fit question rather than a flaw that will affect everyone in the same way. MeriStation’s review
Rank #2
- Unique speedrunning FPS gameplay with parkour mechanics.
- Play as Neon White, an assassin fighting for redemption.
- Collect “Soul Cards” for combat and movement abilities.
- Compete against other players’ scores in leaderboards.
- Includes a foldout poster with exclusive Angel Matrix artwork.
How long is Neon White?
MeriStation’s reviewer estimated around ten hours for an initial completion in 2022, depending on player skill. That is one reviewer’s estimate, not a publisher figure or an average across players. Chasing stronger medals, higher leaderboard positions and gifts can substantially extend that time. MeriStation’s review
Who should play it?
- A strong fit: Players who like first-person movement, precision platforming, compact stages and repeat attempts to improve a time.
- Consider your patience for repetition: The intended mastery loop asks you to revisit stages and learn routes rather than treating a first clear as the end of the challenge.
- Consider the change of pace: Story scenes and character dialogue sit alongside the action, so the experience is not only continuous speedrunning.

Verdict
Neon White has a clear, compelling hook: every card forces a quick choice between offense and movement, and each short stage invites another attempt at a cleaner, faster route. That makes it a strong recommendation for players who enjoy precision, experimentation and time improvement. Its slower story interludes broaden the experience, though they may be less appealing if your only interest is uninterrupted action.
