The report rounded that gain to 140% in its headline. It described NEAR as ahead of Stellar, with an article-time price near $5.51, market capitalization around $7.2 billion, and 24-hour trading volume around $1.2 billion. These are dated snapshots, not live figures.
What the reported 140% surge means
The 140% figure is headline rounding: Cointelegraph’s October 8 report put NEAR’s 30-day gain at 138%, attributing the performance and top-20 ranking to CoinGecko. The report’s market-cap ranking placed NEAR ahead of Stellar at that time. Cointelegraph reported that NEAR Intents had exceeded $31 billion in cumulative transaction volume. The official NEAR Intents page later displayed more than $33 billion in all-time volume across 35 chains. These are cumulative figures observed at different times, not competing measures of a single fixed period; the official page’s metric changes over time. Cointelegraph reported that a Bitwise exchange-traded product tracking NEAR began trading on NYSE Arca under ticker NRR on September 29, 2026. Its launch coincided with the period discussed in the report, but the evidence here does not show that the product caused the rally. The available information also does not establish enough about its design or investor protections to compare it with holding NEAR directly.

A reported Intents exploit
The same report described a $3.8 million exploit involving NEAR Intents deposit and withdrawal infrastructure. It said General Manager Alex Shevchenko stated on October 2 that all funds had been returned. What the rally does—and does not—show

- Compare spot trading volume over the same period, rather than treating a single 24-hour snapshot as a trend.
- Separate events that occurred during the rally from evidence that they caused it.
- For Intents, distinguish cumulative all-time volume from activity measured over a defined period.
Was a change to NEAR issuance approved?
