The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has reportedly asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to provide 200 serving police officers on deputation. The request is intended to strengthen the agency’s cybercrime operations, but the report describes requests sent to provincial authorities—not approval, completed transfers or confirmed postings.
What officers did NCCIA request?
The News International reported that NCCIA requested officers across six rank and gender categories. The figures in the report add up to 200.
| Rank or category | Requested |
|---|---|
| Deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) | 20 |
| Inspectors | 24 |
| Sub-inspectors (SIs), including 28 women | 71 |
| Assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) | 21 |
| Male constables and head constables | 26 |
| Female constables and head constables | 38 |
| Total | 200 |
The report does not break down the requested DSPs, inspectors or ASIs by gender, and does not say how officers would be assigned to NCCIA offices or operational units.
How did the request develop?
According to The News International, NCCIA headquarters sent an initial letter to the KP chief secretary and inspector general of police on September 18, 2026, seeking 147 officers. A second letter, dated October 2 and sent by the agency’s director administration, sought 53 more, including 20 DSPs.
#1 Best Overall
Additional Director NCCIA Nisar Ahmad Khan was cited as saying that the letters had been sent to the KP government and police, seeking officers from different regions of the province. The report says NCCIA sought personnel with expertise in cybercrime, investigation and related services. It does not publish the letters or set out formal eligibility criteria.
Has KP approved the deputation request?
The News account establishes that NCCIA made the requests; it does not establish that KP approved them, issued deputation orders or completed any transfers. The reviewed sources also do not state who would be selected, how long a deputation would last, what service conditions would apply or where selected officers would serve. Those details require confirmation from an official provincial decision or order.

Why might police experience matter to NCCIA?
The Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act, 2025 provides for NCCIA to inquire into, investigate and prosecute offences under the Act. It treats NCCIA officers as police officers of equivalent rank for inquiry and investigation, and directs the agency to build its own forensic analysis capacity. These provisions help explain why police ranks and investigation experience may be relevant to the request; they do not show how the officers would be selected or deployed.
NCCIA’s official site lists offices in Peshawar, Abbottabad and Dera Ismail Khan. The News also reported that some agency personnel were working on contract and had not yet been regularised, and that NCCIA was processing thousands of applications. Those are claims in the news report, not independently verified staffing or workload statistics.

- Whether the KP government or police approved either request.
- Which officers, if any, would be selected and what experience they would need.
- The duration and service terms of any deputation.
- How officers would be distributed among NCCIA locations or operational units.
NCCIA’s careers notice is separate from this request: it concerned recruitment and listed a September 24, 2026 application deadline, rather than the deputation of serving KP police personnel.
