Reporting dated October 8, 2026 also said the stock was trading at a 52-week low and was down 26% for the year to that date. The two facts appeared together in the same story, but the available reporting does not show that the order caused the share decline.

The order is a road construction contract for one defined route and package. It is not a general statement about NCC’s pipeline, and the report does not describe milestones, payment terms or penalty clauses. Those terms would sit in the exchange filing, which was not available for this review.

The 26% figure is a year-to-date measure. It is not a measure of the reaction to the order, and it is not the day’s move. Readers comparing it with other stocks should check that those figures use the same start date and the same close.
What the sources do not establish
The reporting places the order award and the share decline in the same article, but it does not link them. No analyst comment, company statement or exchange observation in the material reviewed explains why the stock fell over the year. Treat any single cause as unverified.

There is also a timing question. NCC’s official disclosure index lists a major-order disclosure dated September 28, 2026, along with September order updates. The Upstox report that covers the HGCL award is dated October 8, 2026. The material reviewed does not establish whether these refer to the same filing, or whether the October report describes a newer award. Readers should check the NCC announcements page for the exact filing date before citing a date for the award.
The report also gives no competing bids, rival contractors or comparable projects, so it does not show whether ₹1,286 crore is large or small relative to NCC’s order book.

Quarterly context
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), Upstox reported consolidated net profit of ₹216.4 crore, up 12.6% year on year, and revenue from operations of ₹5,812 crore, up 12.2% year on year. NCC’s official quarterly results index lists unaudited results for this period. The figures above are the report’s and were not independently reproduced from the company’s results document.
Those quarterly numbers describe past operations. They do not explain the share price path after the quarter closed.
