If you want the current annual basketball game, choose NBA 2K27: Take-Two says it launched worldwide on September 4, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. If you are considering NBA Live 19, treat it as a legacy option, not a current rival: EA’s product page lists the game for PS4 and Xbox and gives its release date as September 6, 2018. The better fit depends on your hardware and the modes you want; the publishers’ feature pages do not establish which game plays better.

Choose NBA 2K27 for newer modes and current platforms
NBA 2K27 is the straightforward choice if you want the newest release documented by the publisher or need a game listed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, or Switch 2. Take-Two describes MyCAREER Eras across five historical eras, a story mode, and the franchise’s first co-op MyCAREER. It also highlights MyNBA Legacy, a 100-year universe; MyTEAM changes including player XP and auction-house updates; and The W/MyWNBA single-player experiences. These are publisher-described features, not independent evaluations of their quality.

NBA 2K Support’s NBA 2K27 mode breakdown also lists changes to dribbling, layups, dunk timing, defense, AI, coaching, and MyTEAM, along with a Season Pass. The listing helps identify what 2K says is included, but it does not show how controls feel or whether the game is balanced in practice.
Consider NBA Live 19 for its particular modes and compatible hardware
EA’s NBA Live 19 page emphasizes The One, League, Street World Tour, and ONE COURT, where players can customize rules and lineups. It also uses the phrases “1v1 Everywhere” and “Real Player Motion” to describe the game. Those are EA’s feature descriptions, not independent proof of realism or gameplay superiority.

Because EA lists PS4 and Xbox, check the exact console and copy before purchase. Neither publisher page establishes current resale stock or price, and EA’s page does not confirm that NBA Live 19 online features remain available today.
Check compatibility before choosing
The platform lists are not interchangeable. NBA 2K27’s announcement names PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam for PC, and Switch 2; EA’s NBA Live 19 page names PS4 and Xbox. If your only system is an older PlayStation, the 2K27 platform announcement does not list it. If you are considering NBA Live 19 for an Xbox, confirm that the specific copy and console are compatible before paying.

Do not assume NBA 2K26 details carry over. For example, 2K’s NBA 2K26 edition FAQ describes PS5 and Xbox Series X|S crossplay for that prior release. It is not evidence of NBA 2K27 crossplay, editions, or entitlements.

2K’s service-status page schedules NBA 2K27 online services through December 31, 2028. The same page lists Play Now, MyNBA/MyLeague/MyGM, 2KU/Learn 2K, MyWNBA, and The W as offline modes. A service-status date is a published schedule, not a guarantee that every online feature or mode will operate identically until that day.

For NBA Live 19, the cited EA page does not provide a comparable server-retirement notice. If online play is important, check current EA and console-platform service information before buying; do not infer that online modes are active from the game’s product description.
