No public official source reviewed identifies Luke Daley as the masked person in FBI footage or links him to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Online comparisons of their appearances are speculation, not an investigative finding. “Porch guy” is a social-media nickname, not an official identification.

What authorities say about the masked person

The FBI’s Nancy Guthrie case page says she was last seen at her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood on the evening of January 31, 2026. The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department are investigating her disappearance.

The FBI says footage from the morning of her disappearance shows an armed individual apparently tampering with the front-door camera. Its description is of a male, approximately 5 ft 9 in to 5 ft 10 in tall and of average build. The FBI is seeking information that will help identify the person; the description is not enough to identify a named individual.

The FBI also notes a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack in the footage. That is an investigative detail, not proof of who wore it or a reason to approach anyone thought to resemble the person shown.

What has been reported about Luke Daley’s booking

Hindustan Times and IBTimes Australia report that Daley was booked in Pima County and that booking information listed a $22,500 bond. The reports say charges were not listed in the record they reviewed. Hindustan Times says it could not independently verify reports of drug and gun charges, so those allegations should not be treated as established facts.

A booking reported in a separate context does not establish a connection to Guthrie’s disappearance. The reviewed reports do not say authorities publicly linked Daley to the case or identified him as the person in the footage.

Why the online resemblance claims are not proof

Hindustan Times reports that an online “investigator” flagged perceived similarities after the booking. Such comparisons—whether based on appearance, clothing, or gait—do not by themselves establish identity or constitute forensic evidence. The FBI’s public case page seeks information about an unknown individual; it does not name Daley.

IBTimes UK reports that Daley denied involvement, quoting him: “It’s not me. I don’t see the resemblance of it looking like me. Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case.” This is a denial attributed to him by that outlet, not an official finding about the identity of the person in the footage.

How to share information safely

Anyone with genuine information about Guthrie’s disappearance should contact investigators through the channels on the FBI case page. The FBI lists a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to Guthrie’s location and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved, a phone tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), and an online tip option.

  • Send firsthand or otherwise credible information to official investigators rather than trying to identify someone from social-media comparisons.
  • Do not confront, contact, or publicly accuse a person based on a perceived resemblance.
