Nagomi Security, formerly Vena Security, emerged from stealth on April 24, 2024, announcing a $30 million funding round led by TCV. Its enterprise cybersecurity platform is designed to assess how well a company’s existing security tools cover real-world threats and recommend ways to close gaps, rather than replace those tools.

What is Nagomi Security?

Nagomi Security is an enterprise cybersecurity company focused on helping organizations evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the security products they already use. The company describes its mission as helping security teams “optimize, measure, and maximize the impact and ROI of their security investments.”

Its Proactive Defense Platform connects an organization’s existing security controls to threats observed in the wild, considers the organization’s threat profile, and prioritizes exposure with remediation plans. The intended benefit is a clearer view of whether deployed tools are providing the protection the security team expects.

How much funding did Nagomi raise, and who invested?

Nagomi announced $30 million in funding when it emerged from stealth on April 24, 2024. SecurityWeek reported that TCV led the round, with participation from CrowdStrike Falcon Fund, Okta Ventures, and angel investors. Team8 had provided seed funding. The company’s launch post also identifies Team8, TCV, CrowdStrike, and Okta among its investors or partners.

SecurityWeek also reported that Nagomi said it had passed $1 million in annual recurring revenue while still in stealth. That figure is a company claim reported in 2024, not an independently verified measure of the platform’s performance.

What does the Proactive Defense Platform do?

Maps threats to existing controls

The platform is intended to connect real-world threats with the security controls an organization has deployed, helping teams identify where coverage may be missing or weaker than expected. Nagomi’s launch materials frame the problem as one of change: attack methods, product capabilities, and organizational priorities shift, so controls that once seemed effective may no longer be sufficient.

Prioritizes exposure and recommends remediation

Rather than simply inventorying tools, Nagomi says it uses a customer’s threat profile to prioritize risks and provide remediation plans. The company presents the workflow as answering three practical CISO questions: where expected controls have degraded, where the organization is exposed, and what actions can close a gap using tools already in place.

Uses read-only integrations

SecurityWeek reported that the platform connects through read-only APIs and integrates with CrowdStrike, Microsoft, SentinelOne, Okta, Qualys, Rapid7, and Google. That deployment model is consistent with Nagomi’s stated aim of analyzing and improving an existing security stack, rather than taking over or replacing its controls.

Does Nagomi replace existing security tools?

No. Based on the company’s description and the reported read-only API model, Nagomi is designed to assess and help optimize existing security products. It maps threats to current controls and recommends ways to close coverage gaps with tools the customer already has; it is not presented as a replacement endpoint, identity, vulnerability-management, or cloud-security product.

What did Nagomi say about the security problem?

Co-founder and CEO Emanuel Salmona told SecurityWeek that “over 80% of breaches occur at organizations that already had a tool in place to prevent it.” This is a figure attributed to Salmona and should be treated as Nagomi’s claim, not as an independently verified industry statistic. His point was that owning a security product does not necessarily mean it is configured, functioning, or covering the relevant threat effectively.

The company’s investor and partner representatives also described the platform in terms of quantifying security-stack effectiveness, mapping threats to coverage gaps, enabling adaptive defense, and making better use of existing technologies. Those are endorsements from parties connected to Nagomi, not independent evaluations of product outcomes.

What to consider when evaluating Nagomi

The funding announcement and company statements establish Nagomi’s product focus and reported integrations, but they do not by themselves demonstrate how much risk the platform reduces or what return on investment a particular customer will achieve. Buyers evaluating it should examine the evidence most relevant to their environment:

  • Threat coverage: Ask how the platform maps observed threats to controls and how often those threat mappings are updated.
  • Integrations: Confirm that the specific security products and configurations in your stack are supported and that the read-only access model fits your security requirements.
  • Remediation guidance: Assess whether recommendations are prioritized, actionable, and appropriate to your organization’s threat profile.
  • Measurable outcomes: Request customer-specific ways to measure changes in control coverage, exposure, and remediation over time; funding, reported revenue, and vendor claims are not substitutes for that evidence.
