MyPDFTools is a reasonable free choice for quick, low-stakes PDF jobs such as merging, splitting, rotating and watermarking pages. PCWorld’s September 16, 2026 review, titled “MyPDFTools review: A handy free PDF toolkit with some rough edges,” advises against relying on it for detailed editing, faithful Word conversion, or sensitive documents until the operator explains how the service runs and handles files.
What the free toolkit includes
PCWorld describes 36 free, browser-based tools arranged in six categories:
- Convert Documents
- Organize
- Edit & Sign
- Optimize
- Convert Images
- Security
The set includes 14 conversion options, and the interface is available in 33 languages, according to the reviewer’s September 2026 check.

Routine page jobs held up
The reviewer’s strongest results came from ordinary page-level work:

- Merge and split: page order was preserved.
- Rotate, delete, reorder, and crop: these worked as expected in the documents tested.
- Watermark and page numbers: both were placed successfully.
For these tasks, the service is a practical option when the documents are not sensitive and do not need to be edited further in a full editor.
Editing is limited to adding content
The Edit PDF tool, found under Edit & Sign, let the reviewer place new text and images over a page. It could not change existing text in the file, and it did not offer common annotations such as highlights or comments. The signature feature produces a visible stamp rather than a certificate-backed digital signature, so it is not a substitute where a legally recognised digital signature is required.

Redaction changes the whole page
In the reviewer’s tested download, redacted pages were rasterized. The covered text was no longer selectable or extractable, which is the outcome redaction is meant to achieve. The cost is that the rest of each affected page also lost searchability and screen-reader accessibility. Before sharing a redacted file, open it in a PDF viewer, confirm that the covered content cannot be selected, and check whether recipients who rely on screen readers can still use the uncovered parts.

Conversion fidelity
Conversion is the weakest area in the review, and the results differ sharply by direction.

If the Word file will be edited further, expect to reformat it. If font fidelity matters for a branded or legal document, compare the converted PDF with the source before sending it.
OCR: English only, up to 30 pages
The reviewer found OCR usable on a scanned document, but reading order was imperfect and some stray text appeared. According to PCWorld’s September 2026 review, the OCR tool:

Password protection
In the reviewer’s test, Protect PDF produced an AES-256-encrypted file that would not open without the password. This is a reported result from one test, not an independent security audit. It shows that the encryption worked on that file. It does not show how the service handles the unencrypted original, which is covered in the privacy section below.

Two sources describe the service differently, and the descriptions should not be merged into one.
What PCWorld reports
PCWorld describes uploading a document, processing it, and downloading the result. The reviewed site did not name an operating company or address, and it included placeholder governing-law language.
What mypdftools.in says
The mypdftools.in homepage and About page describe processing in the browser on the user’s own device and state that files are not uploaded.
How to read the conflict
The available reporting does not establish that the site PCWorld reviewed is the same implementation as mypdftools.in. Until the operator clarifies how it runs and who runs it, treat the privacy claims as unresolved. To test a specific file yourself, open your browser’s developer tools, select the Network tab, and run the job: a server-side workflow shows an upload request carrying the file, while local processing does not send it.

Price and availability
PCWorld listed the service as free at the time of its review, and said all 36 tools were free then. The temporary OCR wording is noted above. These terms reflect the September 2026 review, so check the site for current pricing before relying on free access.
Which jobs fit
- Good fit: merging, splitting, rotating, reordering, cropping, watermarking, or numbering pages in non-sensitive documents.
- Usable with checks: Word-to-PDF conversion, where fonts may change, and PDF-to-Word conversion, where expect reformatting.
- Better suited to a paid editor: changing existing text, adding annotations, certificate-backed signatures, and precise Office conversion.
- Hold off until clarified: confidential, regulated, or otherwise sensitive documents.
PCWorld names Adobe Acrobat and Nitro PDF as full-featured alternatives for the editing and conversion work this service handles poorly. This article does not compare their current prices or features.
