New Orleans producer Mykel Cook, known as MykelOnTheBeat, was reported arrested and charged in connection with an allegation that he intentionally exposed rapper Jayvonda Bazile, known as BOG Vonnie, to HIV. The charge and allegation are not proof of guilt; the reports reviewed through October 2, 2026, do not establish that Cook transmitted HIV or that a court has found him responsible.

Was MykelOnTheBeat arrested?

Yes. AllHipHop reported, citing court records, that Cook, 33, was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on September 18, 2026, on a charge described as intentional exposure to HIV. That is a reported arrest and charge, not a finding that the alleged conduct occurred.

Who is BOG Vonnie?

Jayvonda Bazile is identified in the coverage as the complainant and as rapper BOG Vonnie. AllHipHop reported that Bazile said she met Cook through a music partnership that became intimate. She described the relationship this way: “We became friends, and we weren’t in a relationship, but we were casually hooking up, or hanging out, doing music.” That is Bazile’s account of their relationship.

What is Mykel Cook accused of?

Bazile alleges that Cook exposed her to HIV. The reviewed reporting does not establish who transmitted HIV, when any transmission occurred, or whether Cook acted with the intent alleged. Symptoms do not establish when or from whom someone acquired HIV.

AllHipHop reported Bazile said she was diagnosed in March 2023 after experiencing symptoms. That diagnosis date and her account are attributed statements in the coverage, not independent proof of transmission source, timing, or causation.

A later TRIIP report said investigators alleged Cook’s medical records showed an HIV diagnosis in 2019. This remains an allegation relayed by that report about an arrest affidavit; the reviewed material does not provide the records themselves or an adjudicated finding. It should not be treated as established medical fact.

Bazile said she chose to speak publicly because she wanted others to avoid being affected. Her stated reason is her own account, not medical advice or evidence resolving the charge.

Did he post bond?

AllHipHop reported that Cook initially remained jailed without bond, then Magistrate Commissioner Joyce Sallah set bond at $250,000 and issued a protective order. The same report said Cook posted bond and that the protective order remained in place. The coverage does not provide enough detail to describe the order’s terms.

Has he entered a plea?

Pulse Nigeria reported on October 1, 2026, that Cook had not entered a public plea. That is a dated status report; the reviewed sources do not establish whether he has since entered a plea or whether the case has had a later hearing or disposition.

What does the charge mean legally?

AllHipHop summarized Louisiana law as prohibiting knowingly exposing another person to HIV without informed consent when the contact creates a serious transmission risk. It reported a possible maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Pulse Nigeria also reported a possible maximum of 10 years. These are secondary summaries; the primary statute and court filings were not available in the reviewed coverage, so the reported description and penalty should not be read as a definitive explanation of the law or a prediction of the outcome in this case.
