My SEO Sucks Calculator is described as a free tool for estimating link-placement prices. Its alternatives serve different purposes: some help research backlinks, while others focus on ranking-cost estimates, finding placement opportunities, or outreach. Choose by the task you need done—not by treating Product Hunt’s alternatives list as a definitive ranking or assuming every SEO suite estimates what a purchased link should cost.

What My SEO Sucks Calculator does

Product Hunt describes My SEO Sucks Calculator as a free proprietary web tool that calculates the price of links across the web. The product listing says its team based the calculator on more than 18,000 backlinks built during the preceding 12 months. That is the company’s reported historical basis, not an independently audited sample or confirmation of the tool’s current dataset. Product Hunt’s product listing records its 2021 launch and a #2 daily launch rank; that rank is historical, not a current quality measure.

In a launch-era discussion, maker Chris Porteous said the domain metrics used were mainly domain rating (DR), traffic, and the number of keywords ranked, while noting that this did not account for some advanced options. That comment is the available specific explanation of the inputs; it does not establish the calculator’s current algorithm or all of its inputs.

The same discussion clarifies the time basis behind the maker’s agency pricing example: Porteous said the agency built permanent links and that a price would typically cover a permanent post with a link. This describes the agency’s practice at launch, not a universal vendor convention. A quoted link price should therefore be checked for duration, placement, and any other terms before comparing it with an estimate.

How to choose among the alternatives

Product Hunt’s alternatives page groups products associated with several different jobs. Its descriptions position LemmiLink around quality backlink matches, How Much To Rank around estimating Google ranking costs, Shortlist Metrics and Linkly around outreach, and 3way.Social around surfacing opportunities with AI. These are Product Hunt’s descriptions, not proof that each product is a direct substitute for a link-price calculator. See Product Hunt’s alternatives list.

What you need to do Relevant type of tool What the available information establishes
Estimate a link placement’s price Link-price calculator My SEO Sucks Calculator is described by Product Hunt as a free link-pricing tool. Its current availability, pricing, and algorithm are not established by the available product pages.
Research or evaluate backlinks Backlink checker or backlink analytics platform Ahrefs and Semrush have documented backlink-analysis offerings; the cited pages do not establish that either calculates the purchase price of a link.
Estimate ranking costs Ranking-cost estimator Product Hunt positions How Much To Rank for estimating Google ranking costs. That is a different task from pricing an individual link.
Find placement opportunities Placement discovery or matching service Product Hunt positions LemmiLink around quality backlink matches and 3way.Social around AI-surfaced opportunities.
Organize contact and follow-up Outreach platform Product Hunt positions Shortlist Metrics and Linkly around outreach. Outreach management does not, by itself, establish a market price for a link.

The table reflects Product Hunt’s positioning and the cited product pages, not a live test or a verified feature-by-feature comparison. Product Hunt also lists broader SEO and marketing products—including Screpy, Wope, Branalyzer, Serpstash, SEO PowerSuite, Build The Keyword, and Moz Pro—under categories such as backlink analysis, competitor analysis, site audit, rank tracking, and keyword research. Those category overlaps do not make every listing a direct replacement for link pricing.

Backlink research: Ahrefs and Semrush

Ahrefs

Product Hunt lists Ahrefs as an alternative and tags it for backlink analysis. Ahrefs’ official free backlink checker makes it relevant if your task is inspecting backlinks. The cited information does not show that Ahrefs estimates what a purchased link should cost, so use it as a research comparison rather than as confirmed calculator-equivalent functionality.

Semrush

Product Hunt also lists Semrush and tags it for backlink analysis. Semrush’s official backlink analytics page supports considering it for broader backlink research. The available information does not establish that Semrush calculates link-placement purchase prices either.

Questions to ask before relying on a link-price estimate

  • What inputs are used? The My SEO Sucks Calculator maker’s launch-era description names DR, traffic, and ranked-keyword count as key domain metrics. Current inputs and the effect of advanced options are unverified.
  • What does the price cover? Confirm whether it refers to a permanent placement, a time-limited placement, or another arrangement. The maker’s permanent-link comment described one agency’s practice, not a market-wide standard.
  • How should the estimate be interpreted? Treat it as a negotiating reference, not proof that a placement is worth the quoted amount. The published description does not provide a current methodology or independently validated pricing benchmark.
  • Is the tool currently accessible and what does it cost? The available pages do not establish current access or pricing for the calculator, nor consistent current prices for all the alternatives. Confirm these details with the providers before choosing.

Which kind of alternative fits?

  • Choose a link-price estimator when the question is specifically what a placement might cost, and verify the assumptions behind its estimate.
  • Choose backlink research tools when you need to inspect backlink profiles or conduct broader SEO analysis; do not assume those tools give a purchase-price estimate.
  • Choose discovery or matching services when your problem is finding potential placements.
  • Choose outreach software when you need to manage prospecting and communications rather than calculate a link’s price.
