To clear screenshots on a Samsung phone, open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots, select the images you want to remove, and tap Delete. Confirm Move to Trash. To remove them permanently right away—and avoid waiting for the bin’s automatic cleanup—empty Gallery’s Trash afterward.
Delete screenshots from the Screenshots album
- Open the Gallery app.
- Tap Albums at the bottom of the screen.
- Open Screenshots.
- Select the screenshots you no longer need. Choose All only if you want to remove every screenshot in the album.
- Tap Delete, then confirm Move to Trash.
This is Samsung’s documented Gallery workflow for Galaxy phones and tablets. The Delete step moves selected files to Trash; it does not immediately erase them permanently. Samsung’s US storage guide also explains that photos and videos can use substantial device storage, but it does not guarantee a particular amount of space from deleting screenshots.
Choose whether to keep a recovery window
Leaving the screenshots in Trash lets you restore them if you change your mind. Samsung Canada says Gallery items remain in the Bin for 30 days before they are automatically permanently deleted. The label may appear as Trash or Recycle bin, depending on the interface. Samsung Canada’s Trash instructions describe the retention period and restore controls.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesKeep the files temporarily
After deleting, leave them in Trash if you may need to recover a screenshot. Open the bin and restore the files if needed; available labels and screens can vary by software version and model.

Remove them permanently now
- In Gallery, tap Menu (the three horizontal lines).
- Open Trash or Recycle bin.
- Review the items carefully. Then open More options and choose Empty.
Emptying the bin permanently removes its contents through Samsung’s Gallery workflow. Check the selection first: once items are permanently deleted this way, the bin’s restore feature cannot bring them back.
If the menus do not match
Samsung notes that menu names and paths differ by model, software version, and region. Start with Gallery > Albums > Screenshots when those controls are available. If you cannot find the bin in Gallery, Samsung documents other ways to manage deleted files, including My Files or Device care storage management on supported versions. Samsung’s support guidance discusses these interface variations.

Keep screenshots instead of deleting them
If you want to retain screenshots but move them off the phone, Samsung documents transferring files to a PC over a data-transfer connection, or moving them with My Files to an SD card on models that have a card slot. External storage options depend on the phone and the connected device. See Samsung’s PC transfer instructions and SD card file guidance.

For broader cleanup, Samsung also documents My Files > Analyze storage > Duplicate files as a way to find duplicates. That is separate from removing screenshots in Gallery. Samsung’s My Files guide covers storage analysis.

What this cleanup does—and does not do
The Gallery steps remove the selected screenshots from the phone’s Gallery workflow. Samsung’s US guidance describes manual deletion in connection with avoiding synchronization of old screenshots to OneDrive; it does not establish that deleting a local item removes every copy held by every cloud service. If you use photo syncing, check that service’s own settings and library before assuming cloud copies are gone.
