An Oura Ring 4 can help you notice sleep patterns and get a suggested bedtime, but one wearer’s reported increase from six to seven hours a night is personal experience—not proof the ring caused it or a result buyers can expect. On October 6, 2026, Tom’s Guide reported a UK Amazon Prime Big Deal Days price of about £189 for the ring, compared with a stated £349 reference price. That dated offer is worth checking if you want sleep trends, provided you account for the ongoing membership and confirm the price for your size and finish.
What the Oura Ring 4 can—and can’t—do for sleep
Oura Ring 4 tracks sleep-related signals and presents estimates and trends in the Oura app. Oura lists sensors for heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiration, temperature, movement and blood oxygen during sleep. Its sleep analysis requires an active membership. The ring can help you observe patterns; it is not a treatment, and Oura says it is not a medical device intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent conditions. A reported change from six to seven hours is one wearer’s experience. The available evidence does not establish that using the ring increases sleep duration. A tracker may make patterns easier to see, but a bedtime recommendation is guidance, not an intervention or guarantee.
Seven hours is not the right target for everyone
Oura’s Sleep Contributors guidance says most adults need 7–9 hours, while individual needs vary. Treat that as general guidance rather than a personal prescription. Bedtime Guidance needs time to learn your patterns
Oura says its Bedtime Guidance uses factors including high Sleep Scores, low resting heart rates, typical wake times and recommended sleep duration to suggest a bedtime window. Recommendations appear after two weeks of consistent data. The suggestion cannot be edited manually, and Oura describes it as guidance rather than a guaranteed way to sleep longer. How to interpret the ring’s sleep-stage estimates
Sleep stages from a wearable are estimates, not a substitute for polysomnography, the clinical sleep assessment used as a reference in validation studies. In a study summarized by Oura, Brigham and Women’s Hospital researchers compared wearables with polysomnography over one in-patient night for 35 participants. Oura reported a four-stage Cohen’s kappa of 0.65 for its ring, compared with 0.60 for Apple Watch and 0.55 for Fitbit Sense in that sample. The same study summary reports wake sensitivity of 68.6% for Oura, 67.7% for Fitbit and 52.4% for Apple Watch, and deep-sleep sensitivity of 79.5%, 61.7% and 50.5%, respectively. These results are specific to that study’s participants and conditions; they should not be read as universal performance ratings.

Oura also summarizes an earlier study published in Sensors in 2021, involving 440 nights from 106 people. The company reports 79% four-stage and 96% two-stage classification accuracy for the model described in that study. What the October 2026 UK Prime deal actually reported
Tom’s Guide reported on October 6, 2026, that Amazon UK had reduced Oura Ring 4 to £189.05 against a stated £349 price. The same article also gives £189.95 as the cheapest configuration and says some finishes and sizes reach £229. Because the report contains two different lowest-price figures, the safest description is that the deal was around £189 at the time—not that every configuration cost one exact amount. This was a UK-specific report during Prime Big Deal Days, described as running October 6–7, 2026. Prices, stock and eligible size or finish combinations can change, so the article does not establish that the same offer remains available now. Check the listing and checkout total for the configuration you want; do not assume the reported price applies to every ring.

Include the membership in your cost calculation
Tom’s Guide reported a first month free followed by £5.99 per month for UK membership. That fee was not independently confirmed in official UK pricing documentation, so check the current terms before buying. Oura does state that detailed sleep analysis requires an active membership, making the recurring charge relevant to a purchase aimed at sleep tracking.
Check fit, battery expectations and generation before buying
Use the Ring 4 sizing kit
Oura Ring 4 comes in sizes 4–15, and its sizing differs from other Oura generations. Oura recommends using the Ring 4 sizing kit for accurate fit rather than relying on a different-generation kit. Plan around typical, not guaranteed, battery life
Oura lists typical Ring 4 battery life as five to eight days. Actual duration varies with ring size, settings, activity, age and use, so treat that range as an estimate rather than a fixed charging schedule. Oura Ring 4 specifications.
Don’t assume Ring 4 is the best buy just because it is discounted
Tom’s Guide’s deal article says Ring 4 had been superseded by Ring 5, but the available information does not establish a detailed, independent comparison between the generations. A discount alone does not show whether Ring 4 is the better choice for you. Compare current official specifications and prices for the models available where you live before deciding; the October UK deal figures do not establish current Ring 5 pricing or a feature advantage.
