My-IP-Info is an open-source IP lookup tool built by Doni Leong for people who want to check the public IP address a service sees, compare IP-location reports, and run browser-based WebRTC and DNS diagnostics. It also offers terminal access and can be self-hosted on Cloudflare Workers. These checks show what particular services and tests report; they do not prove that every connection from your device follows the same route or that a VPN is secure.
Leong describes the motivation plainly: “Whenever I turn on a VPN or switch proxy setups, I always want to double check my IP address and make sure my traffic is actually routing where it should be.”
What an IP lookup can—and cannot—tell you
When you ask “what is my IP,” a lookup service reports the address visible to that service for its request. Checking it after enabling a VPN or changing a proxy can help confirm whether that request appears to come from a different public IP.
It is a snapshot, not a complete route audit. An IP lookup alone cannot establish that every app on your device uses the same route, that no traffic bypasses a VPN, or that your physical location has been identified precisely. My-IP-Info adds other diagnostics, but those tests also have defined limits.

How My-IP-Info compares IP information
The project queries multiple IP information providers and presents their reported addresses and approximate locations, including plotted coordinates on a map. Comparing results can make disagreements visible: providers may associate the same connection with different locations. The map does not determine which provider is right, and an IP-based location is not a precise reading of where a person is.
Leong’s article names Cloudflare Trace, IPify, IP.SB, IPWhoIs, and IPIP.net. The repository README lists a broader set, including ip.guide, SeeIP, and icanhazip.com. These are source-specific lists, not a guarantee that every provider is always queried; integrations can change.

What the WebRTC and DNS checks do
WebRTC
The browser-based WebRTC check examines ICE candidates surfaced by the browser. This can help identify addresses exposed through that WebRTC process, but it is not a certification that all browser or device traffic is protected.

The DNS leak check uses unique subdomain queries to observe which DNS resolvers handle those lookups. It is a diagnostic for those requests, not proof that no DNS or other traffic can leak in other circumstances.

Browser and command-line access
You can use the web interface for the lookup, provider comparison, map, and diagnostics. The project also documents a curl endpoint that can return a plain IP address or structured output. The repository describes additional routes and JSON or YAML formats selected through query parameters; consult its README for current endpoint details rather than assuming a particular route or format remains unchanged.
The author describes an implementation using React 18, TypeScript, Vite, and Leaflet on the frontend, with Hono running on Cloudflare Workers. Static assets are served through the Worker, and the response format can be selected based on the request’s User-Agent or query parameters. These are project descriptions, not results from an independent technical audit.

Using the hosted tool or self-hosting it
My-IP-Info is presented as a free, ad-free, MIT-licensed open-source application. The repository documents deployment to a Cloudflare account with pnpm deploy. Check the project’s own instructions for prerequisites, configuration, and current deployment steps.

The project also describes local connection history, configurable providers and endpoints, latency measurement, and PWA installation. Its live site says it does not log IP addresses server-side and that history stays on the device. Those are project-published privacy claims, not independently verified findings. With a self-hosted deployment, the account and configuration you control also matter to how requests are handled.

When this tool is useful
- After switching a VPN or proxy, to see the public address visible to the lookup service.
- When IP-location providers disagree, to compare their reports rather than treating one result as definitive.
- When investigating possible browser WebRTC or DNS exposure, as an initial diagnostic rather than a security guarantee.
- When you want IP results from a terminal or want to inspect and deploy the open-source project yourself.
For a broader assessment of a VPN setup, pair an IP check with the specific application and traffic you care about, and interpret WebRTC and DNS results within the scope of the tests performed.
