A CLS score that changes from 0 to 0.11 under network throttling is a useful debugging clue, not proof that throttling itself caused a specific layout shift. It suggests that something may be arriving late and changing the page after its initial layout. A score of 0.11 is just above Google’s “good” threshold of 0.1, so the next step is to find what moved and compare consistent measurements—not to treat one run as a site-wide verdict.
What a CLS score of 0.11 means
Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) measures unexpected visual movement. The web.dev guide describes it as a metric that helps address “how often it’s occurring for real users.” Google recommends a CLS of 0.1 or less at the 75th percentile of page loads, evaluated separately for mobile and desktop. Scores above 0.25 are considered poor; 0.11 is slightly over the good threshold and falls in the range that needs improvement, not the poor range. Google’s CLS guidance
Those thresholds are about the distribution of real user page loads, not a requirement that every individual lab run must score 0.1 or lower. Google’s methodology says its internal evaluation found shifts of 0.15 and higher consistently perceived as disruptive, while shifts of 0.1 and lower were noticeable but not excessively disruptive. That is Google’s internal evaluation, not an external peer-reviewed study. Google’s threshold methodology
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Why a slower connection can reveal layout shifts
A fast connection or warm browser cache can let images, fonts, and API-driven content arrive before they disturb the visible page. With a slower connection, the browser may render the initial layout first; when a later resource loads, it can change an element’s size or insert content that pushes other elements. web.dev specifically notes that image-related movement is more apparent when an image loads slowly, such as on a slow connection. That makes the mechanism plausible, but it does not identify what happened in this particular test. web.dev’s CLS optimization guidance

- ❓How to enter TPMS learning mode? This tool requires a 9V battery (not included) for operation. To enter TPMS learning mode, please refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for model-specific steps, or consult the User Guide (PDF) available under the “Safety and product resources” section of this listing.
- ❗️❗️Important Note Before use, please first check whether the tire pressure sensors have sufficient battery power and can function properly. This is the most common cause of relearning failures.❗️❗️ If one or several tire sensors cannot be activated after multiple attempts (the issue is caused by low battery or damaged sensors rather than a faulty tool), please replace them with new pre-programmed sensors and try again.
- ✅ GM Vehicle Compatibility – Fits Most Models & Years Our TPMS relearn tool is engineered for GM vehicles, including Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, and Hummer models from 2003 to 2024. Whether you drive a pickup, SUV, sedan, coupe, or MPV, this tool supports popular lines like Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Escalade, and more. It works with both 315 MHz and 433 MHz TPMS systems to eliminate the “check tire pressure” light.
- 💰 Save Time & Money – No More Trips to the Dealership Skip the expensive service fees and long waits at the shop. This TPMS reset tool lets you complete sensor relearning at home in minutes, after tire rotation, seasonal tire changes, sensor replacement, or when the low-pressure warning light won’t turn off. You get the peace of mind of knowing your TPMS is calibrated correctly without professional help.
- 📱 One-Touch Activation – Simple 3-Step Process Install the 9V battery beforehand. No technical skills required! Just follow three easy steps: 1) Put your vehicle into TPMS Learn Mode using the keyless entry, DIC menu, or odometer reset method. 2) Hold the tool’s antenna near each tire’s valve stem, and press the button to activate the sensor. 3) Confirm the vehicle beeps once per tire, then twice at completion. The process is quick, intuitive, and clearly explained in the included guide.
Common sources to check
- Images and video: If dimensions or an aspect ratio are not reserved, the browser may not know how much space to allocate until media loads.
- Ads, embeds, and other late content: A slot that has no reserved space can push nearby content down when it appears.
- Dynamically inserted content: New elements added to the document flow can move content that was already visible.
- Web-font swaps: A loaded font with different character widths or line metrics can change text wrapping and move surrounding elements.
These are possibilities to investigate, not conclusions you can draw from the final score alone.
Why the test result is not enough to identify the cause
The title’s two numbers do not establish which page, browser, device, viewport, cache state, network profile, or measurement tool produced them. Without those conditions and a trace showing affected elements, it is not possible to say what caused the change or whether throttling was the only variable.

- Used Book in Good Condition
Also distinguish a lab run from field data. A Lighthouse-like lab test commonly measures an initial page load. CrUX field CLS can reflect the full page lifecycle, so it can include shifts that occur after that initial load. The results can differ without either being wrong. Compare measurements of the same type, and note the tool and collection window when reporting them. web.dev’s CLS guidance on lab and field data
How to find what shifted
- Hold the test conditions steady. Keep the page, browser, viewport, device emulation, cache state, and measurement procedure the same. Change only the network profile when testing whether throttling affects the result.
- Record the profile. Note the exact throttling preset or custom latency and bandwidth settings, and whether the browser cache was cleared. “Slow network” is not a reproducible profile.
- Inspect the shift trace. Use the measurement tool’s layout-shift entries and affected-element details to see what moved and when. The final CLS number tells you how much shift was recorded, not which element caused it.
- Repeat and compare like with like. Compare fast and throttled runs with the same cache state and viewport. If checking against field data, compare mobile with mobile or desktop with desktop, and account for the different measurement scope.

How to fix the cause once you find it
Reserve space for media
Set image width and height attributes, or provide an equivalent aspect ratio, so the browser can reserve the image’s space before its bytes arrive. Apply the same principle to video and other media whose dimensions are known. web.dev’s CLS optimization guidance
Give late content a stable slot
Reserve an appropriate container size or minimum height for ads, embeds, and other content that may load later. Avoid collapsing the reserved space just because the content does not arrive; doing so can shift the page again.
Rank #4
Reduce font-swap movement
Choose a fallback font with metrics close to the final font, consider font metric adjustments, and load critical fonts early. The right balance depends on the page’s visual needs and loading behavior.

Avoid surprise insertion into the page flow
Do not inject content above or among already visible content without reserving its space. Shifts close to qualifying user input are excluded from CLS when they occur within 500 milliseconds; that is a metric attribution rule, not a guarantee that every interaction-related movement is excluded. Loading states should still keep controls and nearby content from moving unexpectedly. web.dev’s CLS optimization guidance

How to interpret this particular change
The defensible conclusion is narrow: the measured run recorded no CLS before throttling and 0.11 afterward, but the available details do not establish the cause or whether the test represents real users. Treat the difference as a prompt to inspect the trace for late-loading or inserted content, then verify any fix under repeatable conditions and against the relevant mobile or desktop field data.
