Muscatine residents can join the City’s 30-minute Healthiest State Walk on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Meet City staff at 12:15 p.m. at the Mississippi Harvest (Clam Man) statue on the riverfront. If that time or location does not work, the Y Outdoor Trail walk starts at noon, or you can organize a walk elsewhere or go solo.
Where and when is the Muscatine Healthiest State Walk?
The City of Muscatine’s announcement, posted September 30, 2026, schedules its group walk for Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Participants meet at 12:15 p.m. at the Mississippi Harvest (Clam Man) statue on the riverfront. The walk lasts 30 minutes, and everyone is welcome. Read the City announcement.
Other ways to take part in Muscatine
The City lists several alternatives for people who cannot join the riverfront group:
- Walk the Y Outdoor Trail: The Muscatine Community YMCA independently lists a 30-minute walk on the trail at noon on October 7. The YMCA says every adult who walks the outdoor trail with the YMCA that day receives a free day pass. This offer is from the YMCA, not the City riverfront event. See the YMCA listing.
- Arrange your own group walk: Walk with friends, family, or coworkers at a location that suits your group.
- Walk solo: The City also suggests taking an individual walk.

How the local walks fit the statewide event
Both Muscatine walks are part of Iowa’s 16th annual Healthiest State Walk, scheduled for October 7. The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative describes the event as organized 30-minute walks at schools, workplaces, and in communities. Registration is free for households, schools, workplaces, organizations, and communities; Delta Dental of Iowa is the presenting sponsor. The Initiative says the annual walk raises awareness of physical and mental well-being. Its annual walk page links to a toolkit with customizable posters, certificates, communication templates, and social media resources.
