MSI and Blizzard released a real, named retail graphics card—the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G GAMING SLIM World of Warcraft EDITION—on August 21, 2024. It combines NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 SUPER GPU with World of Warcraft anniversary artwork, a Mystic Blue and Glorious Gold finish, and ten magnetic, puzzle-style backplates representing expansion stories.
What is the WoW 20th anniversary RTX 4070 SUPER?
This is an MSI graphics-card model built around NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER. It is not a software skin, a giveaway-only concept or a standard card with an unofficial decal. MSI and Blizzard announced it to mark World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary and the release of The War Within expansion.
The underlying GPU class is the same RTX 4070 SUPER platform used in other cards, while the World of Warcraft edition’s main distinction is its themed industrial design and included collectibles.
MSI World of Warcraft RTX 4070 SUPER specifications
| Specification | MSI World of Warcraft Edition |
|---|---|
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER |
| CUDA cores | 7,168 |
| Graphics memory | 12 GB GDDR6X |
| Memory speed | 21 Gbps |
| Memory bus | 192-bit |
| Power consumption | 220 W |
| Power connector | One 16-pin connector |
| Recommended power supply | 650 W |
| Card dimensions | 307 × 125 × 46 mm |
| Display outputs | Three DisplayPort 1.4a and one HDMI |
| Maximum digital resolution | 7,680 × 4,320 |
| Display support | Up to four displays |
| HDMI capabilities listed by MSI | 4K/120 HDR and 8K/60 HDR |
The 220 W figure is the card’s stated power consumption, while the 650 W figure is MSI’s recommended total-system PSU rating. A 650 W supply is therefore the planning baseline, not a claim that the card itself draws 650 W.

What makes the World of Warcraft edition different?
Mystic Blue and Glorious Gold finish
The card uses a Mystic Blue and Glorious Gold color scheme rather than the conventional neutral styling common on Gaming Slim models. The treatment is intended for themed builds and collectors, not to change the RTX 4070 SUPER’s stated core, memory or power specifications.
Ten magnetic expansion backplates
MSI includes ten magnetic, puzzle-style backplates based on World of Warcraft expansion stories. They are the clearest physical difference from an ordinary Gaming Slim RTX 4070 SUPER: owners can arrange or change the collectible pieces instead of receiving a single fixed rear design.
Size, power and case-planning requirements
Check the 307 mm card length
The published footprint is 307 × 125 × 46 mm. Confirm that your case supports at least the card’s length and height, and leave practical clearance around the cooler and power connector rather than designing to a barely exact measurement.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Plan for the 16-pin connection
The card uses one 16-pin GPU power connector. Your power supply or its approved cabling must provide a compatible connection, with the cable fully seated and routed without a sharp bend directly at the plug.
Use MSI’s 650 W PSU recommendation
Plan around a 650 W power supply for the complete system. The required capacity can be higher in a system with an unusually power-hungry processor, multiple drives or substantial overclocking; the GPU specification alone does not determine every system’s ideal PSU size.
How it compares with a standard RTX 4070 SUPER
| Comparison point | World of Warcraft Edition | Standard RTX 4070 SUPER cards |
|---|---|---|
| GPU and memory | RTX 4070 SUPER, 7,168 CUDA cores, 12 GB GDDR6X, 21 Gbps, 192-bit bus | Core configuration varies by manufacturer model; no separate performance specification is established here |
| Dimensions and power | 307 × 125 × 46 mm; one 16-pin connector; 650 W recommended PSU | Dimensions, connector implementation and PSU recommendation vary by model |
| Display outputs | Three DisplayPort 1.4a, one HDMI; up to four displays; 7,680 × 4,320 maximum digital resolution | Port layout and physical implementation vary by model |
| Collectibles | Mystic Blue and Glorious Gold styling plus ten magnetic expansion-themed backplates | Special backplates and WoW accessories are not a standard feature |
| Current price and availability | Not established by MSI’s cited launch pages; check your region | Varies by board partner, retailer and market |
In other words, the buying decision is primarily about availability, price and the World of Warcraft design. The published GPU, memory and display figures identify it as an RTX 4070 SUPER-class card; the anniversary treatment does not by itself establish a different GPU tier.

World of Warcraft anniversary campaign milestones
MSI’s anniversary campaign listed two participation thresholds: 20,000 participants for a World of Warcraft Collector’s Edition prize and 40,000 participants for the themed RTX 4070 SUPER. Those numbers describe historical campaign milestones. They do not prove that a card is currently in stock, that every retail package included the Collector’s Edition, or that a particular country had the same promotion.

The official launch information does not establish a current Amazon listing, universal price, seller or country-specific inventory. Search retailers in your own market for the exact model name, “MSI GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G GAMING SLIM World of Warcraft EDITION”, and verify the model number, seller, warranty region and included backplates before paying.
- Confirm that the listing names the World of Warcraft Edition rather than a regular MSI RTX 4070 SUPER Gaming Slim.
- Check product photographs for the Mystic Blue and Glorious Gold design and magnetic backplates.
- Verify the seller’s return policy and whether the warranty is valid in your country.
- Budget for a compatible 16-pin cable or an ATX 3.0/3.1 power supply if your existing PSU lacks the required connector.
Who should choose this card?
It is a sensible choice for a buyer who wants RTX 4070 SUPER-class hardware and values official World of Warcraft theming or collectible backplates. A standard RTX 4070 SUPER is the more practical comparison when the themed design is unimportant, when another model has better local warranty support, or when its cooler, dimensions or price fit your system better.
