Verdict: The MSI XpertStation WS300 is a specialist deskside AI system, not a conventional workstation for most users. Its 748GB coherent memory pool can help run large models that exceed the GPU’s 252GB of HBM, while StorageReview’s tests show strong throughput under specific vLLM workloads. That capacity and performance matter most to AI teams whose work is constrained by model size, shared-cluster access, or inference concurrency. They do not make every model run at useful speed, and the system brings Arm software compatibility, power-installation, and acquisition considerations.
What the WS300’s 748GB of coherent memory means
MSI’s WS300 is built around NVIDIA’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip: a Grace CPU and Blackwell Ultra GPU connected through NVLink-C2C. MSI’s “748GB coherent memory” is the combined capacity of two different memory pools, not 748GB of GPU HBM:
| Memory | Capacity | Published bandwidth | Role in the system |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPU HBM3e | 252GB | Up to 7.1TB/s | High-bandwidth GPU memory |
| CPU LPDDR5X | 496GB | Up to 396GB/s | Grace CPU memory connected to the GPU through NVLink-C2C |
| Combined coherent pool | 748GB | Not a single shared bandwidth figure | Combined capacity across the two memory types |
Those figures are MSI specifications on its official WS300 product page. The key distinction is practical: a model may fit in the system’s combined memory even when it would not fit in 252GB of HBM alone, but memory placement still matters. CPU memory has substantially lower published bandwidth than HBM, and performance depends on how the workload uses both pools.
What “up to 20 PFLOPS” and “up to 1T model size” mean
MSI lists up to 20 PFLOPS and a maximum model size of up to 1T in its product comparison, positioning the WS300 for AI development, data science, inference, and personal-cloud use. These are vendor specifications and positioning, not a promise that any trillion-parameter model will run at useful precision, context length, or speed. A model’s quantization, memory footprint, runtime, prompt size, concurrency, and memory placement all affect whether it fits and how quickly it responds.

PFLOPS is a compute-capacity figure; it is not a direct conversion to generated tokens per second. StorageReview’s measurements are more useful for understanding particular inference workloads, but they too apply only to the tested models, software, and settings.
What StorageReview measured
In its August 24, 2026 review, Divyansh Jain at StorageReview compared the WS300 with a Blackwell RTX PRO 6000 in a Dell Pro Max Tower T2 and a GB10 DGX Spark represented by an Acer Veriton GN100. The systems ran shared vLLM live-inference workloads, including an equal 512-input/512-output-token scenario and a prefill-heavy 8,192-input/1,024-output-token scenario, with concurrency ranging from 1 to 128. Results below are the review’s reported measurements, not a guarantee for other models or setups.

Equal-length GPT-OSS workloads at concurrency 128
| Model and condition | WS300 | RTX PRO 6000 system | DGX Spark system |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-OSS-20B, 512 input / 512 output tokens | 22,161 output tokens/s | 9,000 output tokens/s | 1,469 output tokens/s |
| GPT-OSS-120B, 512 input / 512 output tokens | 9,294 output tokens/s | 3,384 output tokens/s | 500 output tokens/s |
These are aggregate output-throughput results under the review’s stated workloads and concurrency, not single-user response speeds. They suggest the WS300 can deliver much greater throughput than the two tested comparison systems in those conditions. Whether that advantage matters depends on a team’s own model, context length, quantization, concurrency, and software stack.

StorageReview also tested a 307GB NVFP4 Nemotron-3-Ultra 550B hybrid model. The review reports that 114GB of its weights were placed in Grace memory, illustrating how the coherent pool can accommodate workloads that exceed HBM capacity, with memory placement and concurrency trade-offs. Output throughput started at 43 tokens/s at concurrency 1 and reached 168 tokens/s at concurrency 32. In a prefill-heavy profile, throughput peaked at 122 tokens/s at concurrency 2 and declined as KV-cache headroom tightened.

- 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM, 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB Graphics Card
- Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (64-bit)
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, 360mm Liquid Cooling
That example is a reminder that fitting a large model is not the same as making it fast. The model, quantization, input and output lengths, concurrency, software, and memory placement shape throughput; the results should not be generalized to other workloads.
Who is the WS300 for?
StorageReview identifies AI labs, inference-engine and framework developers, robotics groups, and enterprise AI teams as plausible users. For them, a large local memory pool and high multi-stream throughput may help when large-model development or inference would otherwise depend on a shared cluster or a smaller system.

- Consider it if your actual models exceed the practical capacity of more conventional workstations, or if you need to serve many concurrent inference streams locally.
- Check compatibility first if your toolchains assume an x86 host. StorageReview flags the Arm host as a potential exclusion for some software.
- Look elsewhere if your single-user workload fits within 96GB: StorageReview says an RTX PRO 6000 workstation costs far less for that use case.
- Plan the installation for power, display, cooling, and network needs rather than treating this as a plug-in consumer desktop.
How it differs from an RTX PRO 6000 workstation and DGX Spark
The StorageReview comparison offers a useful performance reference, but it does not establish a universal ranking for every workload. The WS300’s distinctive advantage is its large coherent memory pool; the right choice depends on whether a job needs that capacity, what throughput it requires, and whether the software and site can support the system.
| Decision factor | WS300 | RTX PRO 6000 workstation | DGX Spark |
|---|---|---|---|
| Memory and model capacity | MSI specifies 252GB HBM3e plus 496GB LPDDR5X in a 748GB coherent pool. | StorageReview’s comparison system had 96GB; its review describes it as a lower-cost option for workloads that fit. | StorageReview’s GB10 DGX Spark comparison system was the Acer Veriton GN100. A comparable memory-capacity figure is not stated in the cited review results. |
| Measured throughput | Led the review’s shared GPT-OSS tests at concurrency 128; results depend on the specified workload. | Reported lower output throughput in those same GPT-OSS tests. | Reported lower output throughput in those same GPT-OSS tests. |
| Host compatibility | Arm host; some toolchains may be incompatible, according to StorageReview. | Host compatibility depends on the workstation configuration; the cited comparison does not establish a universal compatibility result. | The cited comparison does not establish a universal compatibility result. |
| Acquisition cost | Current price not established in the cited material. | StorageReview characterizes it as far less expensive for single-user work within 96GB; a price is not stated. | Current price not established in the cited material. |
Do not use the throughput table as a price-to-performance calculation: the cited material does not establish current purchase prices, and the benchmark advantage only applies to the reviewed configurations and tests.

Power, ports, storage, and installation considerations
MSI lists a 1,600W 80 PLUS Titanium ATX power supply, dual 400GbE QSFP ports via ConnectX-8, one 10GbE RJ45 port, two PCIe 5.0 x2 M.2 ports, two PCIe 6.0 x4 M.2 ports for training data, PCIe expansion slots, and dimensions of 245mm wide, 528.4mm high, and 595mm deep. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications. StorageReview notes that the power budget is shared among components.
StorageReview also flags several practical constraints: on 120V circuits it says the WS300 requires a dedicated 20A circuit, and it lacks display output unless an add-in card is installed. Confirm the electrical requirement for your region and installation with current MSI documentation. A PCIe display or accelerator card should be chosen only after checking support, power budget, and workload suitability.
The StorageReview test unit used four 2TB Micron 4600 Gen5 M.2 SSDs: two in RAID1 for boot and two as separate drives. That is the reviewed configuration, not a claim that every WS300 ships with the same storage. The number and types of M.2 ports leave room for storage planning, but drive fit, interface, thermals, and platform compatibility should be checked for any expansion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

MSI announced on August 28, 2026, that the WS300 was shipping through ASI, D&H, and Newegg. The announcement does not establish availability through Amazon, and the cited MSI product material does not provide a verified retail price. MSI’s availability announcement describes the system as ready for demanding AI workloads, while that statement remains a vendor claim rather than independent proof of setup time or performance: MSI’s announcement.
Final assessment
The WS300’s case is strongest when a workload needs more memory capacity than a conventional GPU workstation provides, or when high-concurrency local inference is valuable enough to justify a specialist system. Its coherent memory is genuinely different from simply adding HBM, and StorageReview’s reported tests show substantial throughput on the workloads it ran. For models that fit within 96GB and ordinary single-user work, the review points to a far less expensive RTX PRO 6000 workstation; for anyone considering the WS300, Arm support, electrical capacity, display needs, and current price should be resolved before purchase.
