Choose the MSI MEG MAESTRO 900R if you want three included 160 mm ARGB fans, an included PCIe Gen 5 GPU riser, extensive front USB-C connectivity, or more listed drive mounts. Choose the Lian Li O11 DYNAMIC EVO XL if you need more listed GPU clearance, support for up to three 420 mm radiators, or a reversible dual-chamber layout. Neither is a universal winner: compare your exact parts and available space before buying.

These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent comparative test results. They do not establish which case runs cooler, quieter, or is easier to build in.
How large are the cases?
MSI lists the MEG MAESTRO 900R as a full tower measuring 695 × 379 × 671 mm, with a net weight of 33 kg. Lian Li lists the O11 DYNAMIC EVO XL at 522 × 304 × 531.9 mm; the retrieved product specifications do not state its weight. The MSI is substantially larger by its listed dimensions, and its 33 kg net weight is worth considering if you expect to move the empty case.

For GPU fit, compare your card’s full dimensions—not just the length—with the case limit. The power connector and cable bend, nearby radiator or fans, and chosen case orientation can affect practical clearance. The published maximum does not guarantee every long card fits alongside every cooling configuration.
For motherboards, confirm the board’s actual width and how its slots line up with your GPU and any other expansion cards. The MSI listing distinguishes a maximum E-ATX size; Lian Li’s listing describes E-ATX as under 280 mm wide.

Lian Li lists up to three 420 mm radiator positions, while MSI lists two 420 mm positions plus a 360 mm side position. These are position limits, not proof that every maximum-size radiator, fan, motherboard, and tube route will fit together at once. Before committing to a custom loop or multiple radiators, check radiator thickness, fan thickness, motherboard-tray height, tubing clearance, and the locations needed for storage.

MSI describes its case as designed for ambitious cooling configurations, including dual 420 mm radiators. That is the manufacturer’s product statement, not a measured thermal result. Neither specification list establishes comparative temperatures or noise.

What do the layouts and GPU mounting options offer?
MSI: centered, panoramic layout
MSI describes a panoramic glass design, centered layout, and detachable, rotatable motherboard tray. The product page also describes vertical GPU installation using an included PCIe Gen 5 riser cable. Treat these as layout and included-accessory features rather than evidence of better performance.
Lian Li: reversible dual-chamber layout
Lian Li describes front and side tempered glass, a removable pillar, a dual-chamber design, Normal and Reverse modes, and movable I/O. Its page lists vertical and upright GPU mounting accessories as optional; do not assume a vertical GPU bracket or riser is included with the base case. The page says a relevant optional kit enables up to 4-slot vertical GPU mounting.

The MSI has the higher listed drive maximum, especially for 3.5-inch HDDs. Check whether the drive cage locations you need remain usable with your chosen cooling arrangement.

What power supply does each case support?
Both cases list ATX power-supply support. MSI specifies a maximum PSU length of 200 mm; Lian Li specifies a PSU under 220 mm. Allow for connected cables and check how the PSU’s position interacts with your storage and cooling plan.
Pre-purchase fit checklist
- Measure the case location and verify the outer dimensions; account for the MSI’s listed 33 kg net weight if handling or moving it matters.
- Check the GPU’s length and width, power-connector position, cable bend, and clearance from the selected fans or radiator.
- Compare CPU cooler height with the case limit: 170 mm for the MSI or 167 mm for the Lian Li.
- Confirm the motherboard form factor and, for E-ATX, its exact width and dimensions against the case listing.
- Plan radiator and fan positions together. Verify thickness, tube routing, tray clearance, and whether the configuration leaves required storage mounts accessible.
- Check PSU length, cable connections, and the space left for drives and cooling.
- Count the drives and front-panel ports you will actually use; verify your motherboard headers and support for the MSI’s power-delivery feature if relevant.
- Verify what is included in the exact regional listing. MSI lists three pre-installed fans and describes an included riser; Lian Li’s GPU display accessories are optional.
- Compare current local prices and bundle contents. They vary by retailer and region, and no current street-price comparison is established here.
Is either case proven to have better thermals or acoustics?
No comparative thermal, noise, build-time, or durability testing is established for these two models here. Fan counts, radiator positions, glass layout, and manufacturer airflow language describe design or support, not measured performance. If temperature or noise is your deciding factor, look for independent testing using comparable hardware, fan settings, and room conditions rather than treating a specification maximum as a benchmark.
