MSI announced the MEG 271Q at CES 2022 as a 27-inch, 2560×1440 Mini LED gaming monitor with a reported 300Hz refresh rate. The announcement established the monitor’s specifications on paper, but the available evidence does not confirm that it reached retail or establish it as the first 27-inch Mini LED monitor to ship.
What is the MSI MEG 271Q?
The MEG 271Q was a monitor MSI announced during the CES 2022 cycle. MSI Ukraine’s January 7, 2022 announcement coverage described it as a 27-inch WQHD display combining Mini LED backlighting, a Rapid IPS panel and a 300Hz refresh rate. The announcement positioned it as MSI’s first 27-inch 300Hz Rapid IPS Mini LED esports monitor in that announcement cycle—not as a verified market-wide first to reach buyers. MSI’s CES 2022 announcement coverage is the source for the original claims.
What specifications did MSI announce?
The figures below are announcement specifications and reported features, not independent test results.
| Specification | MEG 271Q announcement |
|---|---|
| Screen size and resolution | 27 inches; 2560×1440 WQHD |
| Backlight and panel | Mini LED backlight; Rapid IPS panel |
| Refresh rate | 300Hz reported |
| Local dimming | More than 500 zones reported |
| Response time | 1ms reported; measurement conditions were not stated in the cited coverage |
| Color coverage | 97% DCI-P3 reported |
| HDR | VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification reported |
| Gaming features | G-Sync Ultimate and NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer reported |
| Price and availability | Not announced in the January 2022 coverage |
The 300Hz figure is a stated refresh-rate specification, not a measurement of input latency or a guarantee of motion clarity in every game. Likewise, labels such as DisplayHDR 1000 and a reported local-dimming-zone count do not by themselves establish how bright, contrast-rich or uniform the display looks in practice. The cited announcement coverage does not provide independent performance measurements.
#1 Best Overall
- Rapid VA Panel – Provides 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) response time, optimizes screen colors and brightness
- 240Hz Refresh Rate – Respond faster with smoother frames
- 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) Response Time – Eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
- AI Vision – The new AI Vision technology can not only reveal details in dark areas but also enhance overall brightness and saturate colors
- Less Blue Light – Use a software solution to reduce the light emission in the blue-violet region of the blue light spectrum
Did the MEG 271Q ever come out?
The available evidence confirms the CES 2022 announcement, but not a retail launch. MSI’s announcement coverage said price and availability had not been announced at that time; that historical statement does not establish what happened afterward. The exact MEG 271Q’s retail history, current inventory and current price remain unverified here, so it should not be described as currently purchasable.
How does it compare with MSI’s MAG 274QPF X30MV?
MSI now documents another 27-inch, 1440p, 300Hz Mini LED monitor: the MAG 274QPF X30MV. It is a separate model with a Rapid VA panel, not the MEG 271Q. MSI lists 1,152 local-dimming zones and a minimum 0.5ms GtG response time for the MAG. Those are manufacturer-listed specifications, not a basis for treating it as the MEG’s successor or as proof of measured performance.
Rank #2
- Rapid VA Panel – Provides 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) response time, optimizes screen colors and brightness
- 200Hz Refresh Rate – Respond faster with smoother frames
- 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) Response Time – Eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
- AI Vision – The new AI Vision technology can not only reveal details in dark areas but also enhance overall brightness and saturate colors
- Less Blue Light – Use a software solution to reduce the light emission in the blue-violet region of the blue light spectrum
| Attribute | MEG 271Q announcement | MAG 274QPF X30MV product page |
|---|---|---|
| Size and resolution | 27 inches; 2560×1440 WQHD (2022 announcement) | 27 inches; 2560×1440 WQHD (MSI product page) |
| Backlight and panel | Mini LED; Rapid IPS (2022 announcement) | Mini LED; Rapid VA (MSI product page) |
| Refresh rate | 300Hz reported (2022 announcement) | 300Hz listed by MSI |
| Local-dimming zones | More than 500 reported (2022 announcement) | 1,152 listed by MSI |
| Response time | 1ms reported; conditions not stated in cited coverage | Minimum 0.5ms GtG stated by MSI |
| Price and availability | Not announced in the January 2022 coverage | Varies by region and may change; consult MSI’s MAG 274QPF X30MV product page for current local details |
MSI cautions that the MAG model’s specifications and availability can vary by region and change. The comparison therefore distinguishes the older MEG announcement from the currently documented MAG product rather than implying a shared release history.
What can buyers conclude?
The MEG 271Q remains an announced monitor with an unusual headline combination—27 inches, 1440p, Mini LED and a claimed 300Hz—not a model whose retail availability is established by the available sources. If you are checking MSI’s current lineup, verify the precise model and local listing: the MAG 274QPF X30MV is a different display, and its Rapid VA panel should not be confused with the MEG 271Q’s announced Rapid IPS panel.
