PC Gamer reported the MSI MAG 346CQ at Best Buy for $219.99, down from $289.99, during the October 6–7, 2026 Prime Big Deals event. That was an event-period price, not a confirmed current offer; check Best Buy for the live price and availability before buying. The monitor is a 34-inch, 3440 × 1440 VA ultrawide with a 180 Hz maximum refresh rate, but reaching that refresh rate over UWQHD requires DisplayPort.
What was the MSI MAG 346CQ deal?
PC Gamer reported the MSI MAG 346CQ for $219.99 at Best Buy on October 6, 2026, reduced from $289.99. PC Gamer described it as the cheapest 34-inch ultrawide gaming monitor from a big brand during the event. That comparison is limited to the event coverage; it does not establish the lowest price across every retailer, seller, region, or monitor model. The October Prime Big Deals event ran October 6–7, 2026, and the listed price should be treated as historical unless Best Buy confirms it is still available.
See PC Gamer’s MSI deal report and its October monitor-deal roundup for the event listings.
What do you get for the price?
MSI’s 2026 specifications describe a 34-inch VA display with 3440 × 1440 resolution, a 1500R curve, and a maximum 180 Hz refresh rate. The resolution provides substantially more horizontal workspace than a standard 16:9 QHD display, while the curved ultrawide format is intended to fill more of a gaming setup’s field of view. Whether a game supports ultrawide properly varies by title.

| Specification | MSI MAG 346CQ |
|---|---|
| Panel and size | 34-inch VA |
| Resolution | 3440 × 1440 (UWQHD) |
| Refresh rate | Up to 180 Hz over DisplayPort; UWQHD up to 100 Hz over HDMI |
| Response rating | 1 ms MPRT, MSI’s manufacturer rating |
| Brightness | 300 cd/m² SDR |
| Curve | 1500R |
| Adaptive sync and HDR labeling | AMD FreeSync Premium; HDR Ready |
| Mounting and stand | VESA 100 × 100 mm; no height adjustment listed |
| USB ports and speakers | None listed |
MSI’s MAG 346CQ specifications list one DisplayPort 1.4a port and two HDMI 2.0b ports. The stated maximum UWQHD refresh rate is 180 Hz on DisplayPort and 100 Hz on HDMI, so a PC gamer seeking the full refresh rate should connect through DisplayPort and ensure the graphics card supports the desired output mode.
What are the trade-offs?
VA contrast versus response behavior
PC Gamer gives the monitor a 4,000:1 static contrast figure and notes the typical VA trade-off: strong static contrast, but pixel response behavior may be slower than on the best alternatives. Treat that as an editorial expectation, not a measured result for every game or setting. MSI’s 1 ms MPRT is a manufacturer rating; it is not an independent measurement of pixel-transition times.
Rank #2
- Rapid VA Panel – Provides 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) response time, optimizes screen colors and brightness
- 200Hz Refresh Rate – Respond faster with smoother frames
- 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) Response Time – Eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
- AI Vision – The new AI Vision technology can not only reveal details in dark areas but also enhance overall brightness and saturate colors
- Less Blue Light – Use a software solution to reduce the light emission in the blue-violet region of the blue light spectrum
Brightness and HDR
MSI specifies 300 cd/m² SDR brightness, which PC Gamer characterizes as modest. The “HDR Ready” feature label should not be read as proof of a high-end HDR experience; the available specifications do not establish that level of HDR performance.
Stand and extras
MSI lists no height adjustment, USB ports, or built-in speakers. VESA 100 × 100 mm mounting is supported if you want to use a compatible arm or wall mount. The listed box contents are one DisplayPort 1.4a cable, one power cord, and a quick guide.
Rank #3
- Rapid VA Panel – Provides 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) response time, optimizes screen colors and brightness
- 240Hz Refresh Rate – Respond faster with smoother frames
- 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) Response Time – Eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
- Adjustable Stand – Easily change the position of the monitor for maximum ergonomics
- VESA DisplayHDR 400 – Stunning visuals through contrast and shadow adjustment
How did it compare with other event deals?
During the same October 2026 event coverage, PC Gamer listed two other 34-inch UWQHD VA monitors. These are historical event prices, not current quotes; check each retailer for present price and stock.
| Monitor | Event listing reported by PC Gamer | Resolution and refresh | Panel and curve |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSI MAG 346CQ | Best Buy, $219.99 (reported event price) | 3440 × 1440; 180 Hz | VA; 1500R |
| Koorui 34E6UC | Amazon, $229.99 (reported event price) | 3440 × 1440; 180 Hz | VA; 1000R |
| Samsung Odyssey G5 34-inch | Amazon, $249.99 (reported event price) | 3440 × 1440; 165 Hz | VA; 1000R |
The roundup does not establish comparable brightness, port bandwidth, or ergonomic adjustability for these alternatives, so those details should be checked in each model’s specifications before choosing between them.

Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want a large UWQHD gaming display, have a PC capable of driving your games at high refresh rates, and can verify a compelling live price.
- Check the connection first if you expect 180 Hz: MSI specifies that maximum at UWQHD over DisplayPort, not HDMI.
- Look elsewhere or plan an upgrade if you need a height-adjustable stand, built-in speakers, USB connectivity, stronger documented HDR capability, or particularly fast pixel response behavior.
