You can move Safari passwords into Chrome on a computer by exporting them as a CSV and importing that file through Google Password Manager. On iPhone or iPad, Safari can export passwords to Downloads, then Chrome can import the file through its Safari import flow. In either case, the export file contains readable, unencrypted passwords: confirm the transfer, then delete the file.
Import Safari passwords to Chrome on a computer
On a Mac, first export website passwords from Safari as a CSV file. Safari’s export controls can vary by macOS version; follow Apple’s current instructions for your version rather than relying on a menu path that may not match your screen. Google directs users to Safari’s export instructions for this source-app step.

Open Chrome and select More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Settings.

Under Import passwords, select Select file, choose the CSV, and follow the on-screen prompts.

Check Google Password Manager for the accounts you expected to move. Search by app or website name if an entry is not immediately visible.

After confirming the import, delete the CSV from the computer and any other location where you saved or moved it.

Google says the CSV’s first row should contain the columns url, username, and password. Its desktop importer accepts up to 3,000 passwords per batch, and a Google Account can store up to 10,000 passwords. These are Google-published limits; if your export exceeds 3,000 records, split it into separate CSV files and import them in batches. Import Safari passwords on iPhone or iPad
Apple’s documented export path saves a password file to Downloads. Then Chrome’s Safari import flow lets you preview the file before importing it.

Open Settings > Apps > Safari.

Under History and Website Data, tap Export. Select Passwords, deselect other data types, tap Save to Downloads, then tap Done.

Open Chrome and go to More > Settings > Safari import > Import to Chrome > I’ve exported my data.

Tap Select your file and review the preview of the information Chrome will import.

If Chrome finds a password for an account already saved in Google Password Manager, review the choice carefully: Google’s flow says the imported selection replaces the existing password.

Tap Import. After verifying the accounts in Chrome, delete the exported file from Downloads and any other place you stored it.

A password export is not a safe file to keep around. Apple warns: “Your exported passwords are not encrypted and are visible to anyone who can access the file.” Google likewise warns that anyone using the device can open an export that has not been deleted. Remove the file after checking the import; do not leave it in Downloads, Desktop, Trash, or a shared folder.

Why some Safari passwords may be missing

Check the file and its columns on a computer. Desktop imports use CSV. Confirm its first row includes
url,username, andpassword. -
Search by the service name. Google notes that app or site labels may not map into the field or name you expect, so search Google Password Manager for the service if an entry seems absent.

Check the iPhone or iPad export exclusions. Apple’s documented iPhone export excludes Wi-Fi passwords, passwords shared with a group unless you created that group, and Sign in with Apple account passwords. This caveat applies to that documented iPhone export; it is not established here as a universal rule for every macOS version.

Review duplicates before confirming. In Chrome’s iPhone/iPad flow, an imported password selected for an account with an existing saved password replaces the existing one.
