Mountain Dew Pitch Black is coming to the UK as a citrus grape-flavoured drink. Carlsberg Britvic announced on October 2, 2026, that it will be available exclusively through Booker from October, with a national rollout planned from November. The announced format is a 500 ml price-marked bottle; the dates are rollout plans, not confirmation that every store already has stock.
Where and when to buy Pitch Black in the UK
The launch is scheduled to begin with Booker, which has the product exclusively from October 2026. Carlsberg Britvic says a national rollout is planned from November 2026, but does not identify specific retailers or confirm individual store availability. Independent retailers can access point-of-sale and digital materials through Carlsberg Britvic’s At Your Convenience service. Carlsberg Britvic’s announcement gives the launch plan and trade details.
UK pack format
The announced retail pack is a 500 ml price-marked bottle. For trade, Carlsberg Britvic lists cases of 12. The release does not state the bottle’s marked price.
What does Mountain Dew Pitch Black taste like?
Carlsberg Britvic describes the UK drink as citrus grape-flavoured and says it has a dark purple colour. It also describes the packaging as space-inspired. These are the company’s product descriptions, not the result of an independent taste test.

The UK description should not be treated as proof that this recipe matches a US version. A PepsiCo SmartLabel record for a US Pitch Black product calls it “Dew With A Blast Of Dark Citrus Punch Flavor” and identifies a six-pack of 16 fl oz bottles; the record was updated January 5, 2023. Why does the launch say “after years away from US shelves”?
PepsiCo’s releases document US promotional returns in 2011 and 2016, but do not establish Pitch Black’s current US retail status.

The 2011 limited-time return
PepsiCo said Pitch Black was among three flavours relaunched nationwide on May 16, 2011, as part of its “Back by Popular DEWmand” campaign. The company described the return as limited-time. PepsiCo’s May 31, 2011 announcement
The 2016 fan vote
In July 2016, PepsiCo announced that Pitch Black had won its DEWcision vote against Baja Blast after a three-month campaign. That result documents the promotion; it does not show that Pitch Black then became a permanent US shelf product. PepsiCo’s July 18, 2016 announcement

What the launch figures say—and what they do not
Carlsberg Britvic cites sales figures to describe the broader Mountain Dew brand in Great Britain, not Pitch Black’s performance. The company attributes them to NielsenIQ Discover datasets in its October 2026 announcement:
- £32.6 million in retail sales value: Mountain Dew in GB total coverage for the rolling 52 weeks ending August 8, 2026.
- 11.5% year-on-year sales growth: Mountain Dew sales value in GB total coverage for the rolling 52 weeks ending August 8, 2026.
- Third-fastest-growing flavoured carbonates brand in convenience: the ranking is based on sales value change versus the year before, for GB convenience and the rolling 52 weeks ending September 5, 2026.
None of those figures is a Pitch Black sales result. Carlsberg Britvic Brand Director of Carbonates David Laidler said the new flavour innovation gives customers “an opportunity to build on that momentum.” The company’s release includes the figures and their measurement periods.
