For most U.S. buyers, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is the better-value pick: its U.S. launch starting price was $1,099.99, $400 below the Motorola Razr Ultra (2026)’s $1,499.99 launch MSRP, and Samsung commits to up to seven years of OS and security updates. Choose the Razr Ultra if you are willing to pay more for its larger, faster inner screen and more extensive camera hardware on paper. This comparison treats “Galaxy Z Flip” as the Z Flip7, Samsung’s relevant counterpart, and uses U.S. launch pricing rather than current checkout offers.

Specifications and availability can vary by market. The prices above are launch figures, not a claim about what either phone costs today.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy Z Flip7 for value and documented long-term support
The Flip7’s $1,099.99 U.S. starting launch price was $400 below Motorola’s launch MSRP, and Samsung’s up-to-seven-year OS and security-update commitment is the clearer long-term support promise in the evidence available. Samsung also offers a 256GB storage option, versus the 512GB Razr configuration used for this comparison. Check current prices and availability before buying; launch pricing does not predict today’s deal.
Choose the Razr Ultra for its larger, faster inner display and hardware-first appeal
Its 7-inch inner display is larger than the Flip7’s 6.9-inch panel, and its reported maximum refresh rate is 165Hz rather than 120Hz. The Razr also has three 50MP cameras in the compared hardware specification. That makes it the more ambitious hardware package on paper, but it does not establish that its photos or videos are better in everyday use.
#1 Best Overall
- Universal unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other prepaid carriers.
There is no settled camera or battery-life winner
Android Central’s comparison notes that matched real-world camera testing of the Razr was incomplete. Samsung lists a 4,300mAh battery, but the reviewed sources do not provide standardized, matched runtime tests for both phones. Do not treat camera counts, megapixels, or battery capacity alone as proof of which phone takes better pictures or lasts longer.
Displays, portability, and everyday handling
The Razr has the larger, faster inner screen
Android Central lists the Razr Ultra’s inner display at 7 inches with refresh rates up to 165Hz. Samsung lists the Flip7’s inner display at 6.9 inches and up to 120Hz. The Razr’s specifications favor a bigger, faster panel; actual smoothness and viewing experience also depend on the content and software.

The Flip7 is lighter and slimmer when folded
The cited specifications put the Flip7 at 188g and 13.7mm folded, compared with 199g and 15.7mm for the Razr Ultra. Samsung also lists the Flip7 at 6.5mm unfolded. These figures make the Flip7 the lighter and thinner folded device on the cited measurements.
Samsung’s cover screen is slightly larger
The Razr’s cover display is listed at 4 inches, while the Flip7’s is 4.1 inches. Samsung says FlexCam lets users frame and shoot with the cover screen, including hands-free shooting. That is a manufacturer-described feature, not a comparative usability test.

Cameras: compare hardware, not just megapixels
Android Central reports three 50MP cameras and advanced video modes for the Razr Ultra. Samsung lists a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide for the Flip7. Those specifications suggest more camera hardware on the Motorola, but the source does not provide a complete matched camera test that would justify naming a real-world winner. Samsung’s image-quality claims on its product comparison page are vendor claims rather than independent results.
Software support and ownership considerations
Samsung commits to up to seven years of OS and security updates for the Flip7, as reported by Android Authority in 2026. A comparable current Motorola update-duration commitment was not established in the reviewed sources, so this comparison cannot responsibly assign Motorola a shorter period. Buyers considering a long ownership cycle should confirm Motorola’s current official policy for their region and model before deciding.

Samsung’s 2025 launch announcement described Care+ repair coverage, but coverage terms, eligibility, exclusions, and price depend on current regional offerings. Verify those details directly before treating protection as part of either phone’s ownership cost.
