Motorola’s 2026 Razr Fold brings the company into the book-style foldable category, alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 and Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold. All three are premium-priced U.S. options, but the Razr Fold distinguishes itself on listed battery capacity, display dimensions and optional pen input. Those figures do not establish which phone lasts longer or takes better photos: the useful choice depends on storage, software support, regional availability and the features you value.
What is new about the Motorola Razr Fold?
Motorola introduced the Razr Fold on March 2, 2026, calling it the first book-style foldable in the Razr family. Earlier Razr foldables used the flip format. The Fold opens like a small tablet, with a larger inner screen and a cover screen for use while closed. Motorola’s product page lists a 6.6-inch external display and an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO inner display. Display measurements and specifications can vary by regional product listing.
The hardware is positioned for large-screen multitasking as well as photography. Motorola specifies a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, three 50MP rear cameras, a 20MP external selfie camera and a 32MP inner selfie camera. Resolution counts describe hardware, not image quality; they do not show how the cameras compare in real-world results.

Where the Razr Fold stands out
A larger listed battery capacity
Motorola’s 6,000mAh typical-capacity figure is higher than the 4,800mAh listed for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 and Google’s 4,806mAh typical figure for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Capacity is not the same as runtime: power use, software, display settings and network conditions affect how long a phone lasts, so these figures alone cannot identify the longest-lasting model.
Fast charging claims, with separate chargers
Motorola advertises up to 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The corresponding Motorola TurboPower chargers are sold separately, and the company’s charging-time claims are subject to conditions such as device state and charger type. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of a particular charging time in every setup.

Optional pen input
The moto pen ultra supports note-taking, sketching and document annotation. Motorola says it is sold separately except where included in a regional bundle; the announced European launch bundle paired it with the phone at €1,999. Confirm the contents of the package for the market where you plan to buy.
Stated software support
Motorola says the Razr Fold will receive up to seven Android OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates, counted from global launch. The company notes that terms may vary by market, network provider and model. This is a stated support commitment; it does not establish update delivery speed or identical terms for every regional version.

What the price comparison does—and does not—tell you
At the U.S. list-price level, the cited starting figures are close: $1,899 for Motorola’s launch price as reported by Android Central, $1,899.99 for Samsung and $1,899 for Google before trade-in. The Motorola figure is a reported launch price rather than a current U.S. Motorola price listing. Google’s displayed trade-in price depends on eligibility and offer terms, while Samsung’s listed price varies by storage tier. Compare the exact configuration and checkout price rather than treating these starting figures as like-for-like offers.
Motorola also announced European launch availability at €1,999 with the pen included. That regional bundle should not be treated as a U.S. price or as proof that the same accessory is included in other markets. Availability and package contents depend on region.

How to choose between them
- Choose the Razr Fold if its 8.1-inch inner display, listed 6,000mAh typical battery capacity, optional stylus and Motorola’s stated support terms suit your priorities—and you can confirm the price, storage and bundle for your region.
- Compare Samsung closely if you want to choose among the explicitly listed 256GB, 512GB and 1TB purchase configurations. Match the storage tier and account for any live offer before comparing price with the other phones.
- Compare Google closely if the Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s 6.5-inch outer screen, 8-inch inner screen, Tensor G6 or an eligible trade-in offer matters to you. Verify the offer’s conditions and final price.
For any of the three, do not use battery capacity as a substitute for measured battery life or megapixel counts as a substitute for camera comparisons. Motorola calls its camera system the top-ranked foldable camera system, citing DXOMARK’s March 2026 testing and rankings. That is Motorola’s characterization of rankings covering devices DXOMARK tested, not evidence that the Razr Fold is the best camera phone overall.

Android Central’s March 2026 hands-on discussed the Razr Fold against the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the predecessors to the Samsung and Google models listed above. The author described the first experience as controlled and said fuller testing was needed. It provides launch-era context, not a long-term review or a direct comparison with the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
