The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is one of the more capable flip phones of 2025: its large outer display can handle more than quick notifications, and its flagship-class chip, fast charging and flexible rear cameras make it appealing beyond its foldable design. The trade-offs are its premium launch positioning, camera shortcomings reported in review testing, and the extra care a foldable screen requires. In the United States, the closely corresponding phone is sold as the Razr Ultra 2025; specifications and pricing below are identified by region and source rather than assumed to match every market.

What are the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra’s main pros and cons?

Pros Cons and qualifications
Large, functional outer screen and a high-refresh-rate main display, according to Motorola’s specifications; Tom’s Guide reviewer John Velasco found the outer screen useful for one-handed app use. The outer display’s camera cutout can obscure some app content, as noted by Tom’s Guide.
Flagship-class Snapdragon 8 Elite and 16GB RAM in the reviewed US Razr Ultra 2025 configuration. Tom’s Guide reported a $1,299.99 US launch price in 2025. That is historical launch pricing, not a current quote.
Motorola specifies a 4700mAh battery, up to 68W wired charging and up to 30W wireless charging. Battery endurance varies by settings and use; the strongest Tom’s Guide test result used Efficiency First mode, with a shorter result in Smart and Balanced mode.
50MP main and ultrawide rear cameras in the reviewed US model, with macro versatility praised by the reviewer. The same reviewer reported weak low-light results, softer selfies than the Razr Plus 2024, and no portrait video mode.
Tom’s Guide reviewer John Velasco liked the hinge’s snappier response compared with the previous Razr Plus 2024. Motorola says the IP48 rating is based on controlled laboratory conditions: the phone is not waterproof or dustproof, and dust can harm the hinge or display.

What screens and performance do you get?

Motorola lists a 7.01-inch main display and a 4.0-inch external display, each specified for refresh rates up to 165Hz. Its India support specifications describe the main panel as foldable AMOLED/LTPO, with 2992 × 1224 resolution, 464ppi, HDR10+ and 10-bit color. The external pOLED panel is listed at 1272 × 1080 and 417ppi. These are specifications from Motorola’s India support page, not a guarantee that every regional SKU has identical specifications. The outer screen is more than a glanceable notification panel. Tom’s Guide reviewer John Velasco found it useful for fuller one-handed use and reported that it could run apps full-screen, although its camera opening can cover portions of some apps. That makes the cover display a practical reason to consider this model if you want to do quick tasks without opening the phone, but app layouts may not always fit cleanly.

How good are the cameras?

The reviewed US Razr Ultra 2025 has 50MP main and 50MP ultrawide rear cameras, plus a 50MP front camera, according to Tom’s Guide. The reviewer welcomed the ultrawide camera’s return and found macro photography useful. In some comparisons, the reviewer also found the phone’s color rendering relatively natural. Those findings describe that reviewer’s assessment rather than a promise of identical results in every scene.

Where the camera is less convincing

  • Very dark scenes: Tom’s Guide reported difficulty focusing and underexposure in low light.
  • Selfies: The reviewer found them softer than those from the Razr Plus 2024.
  • Video: The reviewer noted there is no portrait video mode.

For buyers who mainly want daylight snapshots, an ultrawide view and macro flexibility, the camera setup offers useful variety. If low-light photography, consistently sharp selfies or portrait video is a priority, the specific weaknesses reported by Tom’s Guide deserve particular attention.

How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?

Motorola specifies a 4700mAh battery. Its product page advertises more than a day and a half for a median user under a mixed-use profile and optimal network conditions, while warning that actual performance varies with signal, settings, temperature, battery condition and usage. This is a manufacturer estimate, not an independent typical-use result. Motorola Razr 60 Ultra product page.

In Tom’s Guide’s stated battery test, the US Razr Ultra 2025 lasted 18 hours 57 minutes in Efficiency First mode and 15 hours 42 minutes in Smart and Balanced mode. These are results from that publisher’s test under its chosen modes; they should not be treated as a forecast for everyday use. The difference is useful when judging endurance: the best result depended on the selected mode, rather than being a single result representative of every setting.

Motorola lists up to 68W wired charging, up to 30W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging. It says its 68W TurboPower charger is sold separately, and using a charger with a higher rating will not raise the handset’s 68W maximum. Motorola charging specifications and Motorola product information.

How durable is the foldable screen?

Motorola’s hardware guidance describes IP48 resistance but explicitly says the device is “Not waterproof or dust proof.” The rating was established under controlled laboratory conditions; Motorola advises avoiding dust because it can harm the hinge or display. Treat the rating as limited protection under specified conditions, not permission to expose the open phone to dusty or wet environments. Motorola hardware and resistance guidance.

How long will it receive updates?

Motorola’s UK PSTI compliance statement for model XT2551-6 specifies a four-year security-update support period, from February 2025 through February 2029. This is the commitment stated for that identified model in the UK document; it should not automatically be applied to every regional model. Motorola UK PSTI statement for XT2551-6.

Tom’s Guide describes three years of “software support” but does not define in the cited passage whether that means Android-version upgrades, security patches or both. The two statements therefore cannot be combined into a single Android-upgrade promise. If the number of Android OS upgrades matters to your purchase, check Motorola’s commitment for the exact model and market rather than inferring it from the UK security-update period.

What did the Razr 60 Ultra cost at launch?

Tom’s Guide listed the US Razr Ultra 2025 at $1,299.99 at launch and said the line went on sale May 15, 2025. This is historical US launch information for the Razr Ultra 2025, not a current selling price or a price for the international Razr 60 Ultra. Prices and configurations can differ by region and change over time, so check a current local listing before making a buying decision. Tom’s Guide review and launch details.

Verdict: Is the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra worth buying?

The Razr 60 Ultra is compelling if you specifically want a flip phone with a genuinely useful outer display, flagship-class performance and fast charging. Its camera array has real flexibility, especially with the ultrawide and macro options, but reviewer findings on low-light shots, selfies and portrait video make it a less obvious choice for camera-first buyers.

Its value depends heavily on the current price in your market and how much you value the foldable form factor. The US launch price was firmly premium, while the practical compromises—care around dust and the foldable screen, plus uncertainty about Android-upgrade duration—matter more than they would on a conventional slab phone. Buy it for the large cover screen and flip-phone experience, not on the assumption that IP48 means carefree durability or that the UK security-update statement guarantees a particular number of Android upgrades.
