The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G has the bigger, faster-refreshing display and the larger listed battery. The Motorola Edge 70 is thinner and lighter in the surfaced specification, charges faster over a cable, and adds wireless charging. There is no reliable universal price difference: compare the same storage tier in your country, from the same kind of seller, on the same date.
One important wrinkle: Motorola’s US specification pages describe two different Edge 70 memory, storage, and battery combinations. Treat those as separate listings, not one definitive configuration, and confirm the exact regional model before buying.

The figures below are manufacturer specifications unless otherwise noted. They are not independent performance, camera, or battery-life test results.

Which phone has the better display?
On listed size and maximum refresh rate, the POVA 8 Pro 5G leads: its display is 6.78 inches and supports up to 144Hz, compared with 6.67 inches and up to 120Hz for the Edge 70. The Edge 70’s listed resolution is 2712 × 1220, while TECNO gives 2644 × 1208 for the POVA. These figures do not establish which screen looks better in brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility, or motion handling; those require comparable testing.
Which has the bigger battery, and which charges faster?
TECNO lists a 6500mAh battery, larger than either Motorola figure surfaced: 5000mAh for the 8GB/256GB Edge 70 listing or 4800mAh for the 12GB/512GB listing. That capacity comparison does not predict a precise difference in screen-on time. Endurance depends on hardware, software, network conditions, settings, and use, and no matched battery test is available here.

For wired charging, Motorola lists up to 68W against TECNO’s 45W. Motorola also lists 15W wireless charging; no wireless charging figure is listed for the POVA. Maximum charging rates do not by themselves establish actual charge times, which can depend on the charger, cable, temperature, and charging curve.

Both manufacturers specify a 50MP OIS main camera. Motorola lists a 50MP ultrawide, compared with TECNO’s 8MP ultrawide; one Motorola listing also identifies autofocus and macro support for that camera. Megapixel counts and feature labels do not establish real-world image quality. There is no independent, matched camera comparison here, so the specifications alone cannot show which phone takes better photos or video.

Which phone is thinner and lighter?
The surfaced Motorola 8GB/256GB listing gives a weight of 159g and thickness of 5.99mm. TECNO lists the POVA at 189g and 7.39mm. In those listed specifications, the Motorola is 30g lighter and 1.40mm thinner. Confirm the exact Edge 70 configuration and local model because the two Motorola listings do not describe the same memory, storage, or battery combination.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is the price difference?
There is no established, like-for-like price gap that applies across countries or configurations. Motorola India’s surfaced official family result showed other Edge family models, not the base Edge 70 (Motorola India). Gadgets 360 reported Indian POVA 8 Pro 5G prices of ₹49,999 for 8GB/256GB and ₹54,999 for 12GB/512GB on 6 October 2026 (Gadgets 360). Those are reported prices for TECNO variants, not a verified matched comparison with an official Edge 70 price.

A separate comparison-page result showed roughly ₹32,025 for the Edge 70 and ₹49,999 for the POVA, but it did not establish matched storage variants, seller terms, or an official current price. Do not treat that difference as a confirmed price advantage for either phone (91mobiles comparison).

Quick Recap
Which one makes more sense for you?
- Consider the POVA 8 Pro 5G if you prioritize a larger listed display, a higher maximum refresh rate, or the larger stated battery capacity.
- Consider the Edge 70 if a thinner, lighter listed body, faster stated wired charging, or wireless charging matters more to you.
- Check the exact configuration before choosing either. Motorola’s surfaced listings differ in RAM, storage, and battery capacity; TECNO’s RAM descriptions include virtual or extended memory, so distinguish it from physical RAM.
- Do not choose on chipset or camera megapixels alone. The available specifications do not establish comparative everyday speed, gaming results, battery endurance, or image quality.
