For gaming and battery endurance, the OnePlus 15R is the stronger pick; for a sharper screen and more flexible charging, choose the Motorola Edge 70 Max. Both use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, so the practical differences are RAM at each price, support for high-refresh gaming, battery-test results, display resolution, and charging. The prices below are India prices reported on July 16, 2026—not live quotes.

At a glance: how the phones compare

Performance: same processor, close everyday results

Both phones use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and 91mobiles describes everyday performance as virtually identical. In its reported benchmark results, the Edge 70 Max scored 2,972,932 in AnTuTu versus 2,957,229 for the OnePlus 15R. Geekbench results were 2,823 versus 2,851 in single-core and 8,890 versus 9,363 in multi-core, respectively. The multi-core result favors OnePlus, but these are one reviewer’s measurements—not guaranteed results for every device. Benchmark version, memory configuration, temperature, and firmware can affect scores. Read 91mobiles’ comparison review

Motorola’s announcement says the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 provides up to 36% improved CPU performance, 11% improved GPU performance, and 46% improved NPU performance versus the previous generation. Those are Motorola’s manufacturer claims about a generational improvement, not a direct comparison with the OnePlus 15R. Motorola’s Edge 70 Max announcement

Gaming: OnePlus has the clearer high-refresh advantage

The OnePlus 15R’s 165Hz panel is useful only when a game supports a matching high frame rate. In 91mobiles’ testing, supported games such as BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile reached 165Hz on OnePlus, while the tested Edge 70 Max remained capped at 120Hz. Game support, settings, firmware, and test conditions can change what a particular player sees; a panel’s maximum refresh rate is not a promise that every game will run at that rate.

OnePlus also advertises “always-on 120 FPS” for MLBB based on OnePlus Test Laboratory data for at least 60 minutes, while noting that results may vary with environment or use. This is a manufacturer claim for that game and test duration, not a guarantee of a universal frame rate. OnePlus 15R product page

For competitive gaming, the available comparison supports choosing OnePlus for higher refresh in compatible titles, but it does not establish which phone maintains higher performance during every long session. The review’s benchmark snapshots are not a substitute for comparable stress tests covering sustained frame times and temperatures.

Display: Motorola is sharper; OnePlus is faster at its peak

The Edge 70 Max’s 6.82-inch panel has QHD+ resolution of 1440 × 3168 and a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Motorola’s specifications also list up to 7,000 nits peak brightness; that peak figure should not be read as typical full-screen brightness. The phone is specified with Gorilla Glass 7i, an aircraft-grade aluminium frame, IP68/IP69 protection, and MIL-STD 810H. These are manufacturer-published specifications. The OnePlus 15R has a similarly sized 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen, with a higher stated maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. In ordinary interface use, 91mobiles reports similar perceived smoothness. Choose Motorola if finer display detail matters more; choose OnePlus if you want the higher peak refresh and play titles verified to support it.

Battery and charging: endurance versus charging options

In 91mobiles’ PCMark battery test, which ran from 100% down to 20%, the OnePlus 15R recorded 18.2 hours and the Edge 70 Max 16.6 hours. These are results from one publisher’s test, not predictions of how long either phone will last in your personal mix of gaming, screen brightness, and network use. 91mobiles’ battery and performance comparison

The OnePlus has the larger stated battery at 7,400mAh, while Motorola lists 7,100mAh. Motorola specifies 90W wired charging and 25W magnetic Qi2 wireless charging; OnePlus is listed with 80W wired charging and no wireless charging in the comparison. Pick Motorola if wireless charging or its higher stated wired charging rate is valuable to you; the test result favors OnePlus for endurance under that review’s PCMark method. Motorola’s published runtime figures are manufacturer “up to” claims, not an independent head-to-head result. Motorola charging specifications

Price, memory, and software support

91mobiles reported the Edge 70 Max at ₹54,999 for 8GB/256GB and ₹59,999 for 12GB/256GB, and the OnePlus 15R at ₹59,999 for 12GB/256GB, in its July 16, 2026 comparison. At those reported prices, Motorola’s cheaper entry configuration has less RAM; for a like-for-like 12GB comparison, both start at the same reported price. The same comparison reports four major Android upgrades and six years of security updates for OnePlus, against three major upgrades and five years for Motorola. Because this comparison is not an official policy page, treat those as reported terms and verify the current support commitment for your region before relying on them for a long-term purchase.

Which phone should you buy?

Choose the OnePlus 15R if

  • You play games that support its higher refresh rates and value the 91mobiles gaming results.
  • You want 12GB RAM in the reported ₹59,999 configuration.
  • The longer reported software-support window and stronger PCMark battery result matter more than wireless charging or display resolution.

Choose the Motorola Edge 70 Max if

  • You want QHD+ resolution rather than a 1.5K screen.
  • You value magnetic Qi2 wireless charging or Motorola’s higher stated wired charging rate.
  • You can save money with the reported 8GB/256GB model, or prefer Motorola’s 12GB/256GB option at the same reported price as OnePlus.

Verdict: The OnePlus 15R is the better performance-focused default under ₹60,000 on the reviewed gaming and battery evidence. The Edge 70 Max is the more compelling alternative if its sharper screen and charging flexibility are higher priorities. If sustained gaming performance is your deciding factor, look for comparable tests of the exact configurations and games you use rather than treating short benchmark results as a universal winner.
