The Motorola Signature is the newer, more feature-rich phone on paper, while the Edge 50 Ultra has faster rated wired charging and a higher-resolution telephoto camera. Motorola announced both at a starting price of €999 in selected European markets, but that launch-price match does not tell you what either costs today: the Edge 50 Ultra launched in 2024, and current prices depend on country, configuration and retailer.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra vs Signature: key specifications
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent benchmark or camera-test results. Motorola says specifications can vary by market, so check the exact regional model and configuration before buying.

Memory and storage availability can differ by market. Peak brightness figures are Motorola claims, not independently measured sustained brightness. Battery capacity and charging wattage also do not establish real-world battery life or charging time.
What is the price difference?
At launch, there was effectively no difference in starting MSRP in the cited European announcements: Motorola listed both from €999. The Signature’s January 2026 launch announcement names selected European countries and directs buyers to confirm local pricing and availability. Motorola’s Edge 50 Ultra launch announcement dates to 2024.

Those launch prices are not a current price comparison. A meaningful present-day gap requires listings from the same country, with the same storage capacity, condition and retailer type, checked on the same date. Discounts and availability can make the older Edge 50 Ultra substantially cheaper in some markets; no current retail-price difference is established by these launch figures.
Where the Signature has the advantage
Newer processor and longer stated support
The Signature uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while the Edge 50 Ultra uses Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. That is a generation difference in the published hardware, not proof of a particular real-world speed advantage: no comparative benchmark testing is established here.
Motorola lists the Signature with Android 16 and says it will receive “up to seven years of Android™ OS and security upgrades.” Its footnote specifies seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates from global launch, with terms varying by market, network provider and model. The Edge 50 Ultra support page lists Android 14; that is its listed software specification, not a claim that every device still runs that version today.

Larger, faster-refresh display and slimmer body
The Signature’s listed screen is slightly larger and has a higher resolution and refresh-rate ceiling: 6.8 inches, 2780 × 1264 and up to 165Hz, compared with the Edge 50 Ultra’s 6.7-inch, 2712 × 1220, 144Hz panel. Motorola also lists higher peak brightness for the Signature, but peak claims should not be treated as sustained brightness measurements or a guarantee of superior visibility in every condition.
Despite its larger screen, the Signature is listed as 11g lighter and 1.6mm thinner. It is also wider: 76.4mm versus 72.38mm. If one-handed grip matters, width may count more than thickness or weight alone.
More battery capacity and protection ratings
The Signature’s battery is listed at 5200mAh, compared with 4500mAh for the Edge 50 Ultra. Motorola’s support pages list battery-life claims of up to 41 hours and up to 40 hours respectively. Those are manufacturer estimates, not guarantees for a particular user; Motorola’s battery claims are approximate and based on a median mixed-use profile under optimal network conditions.

Where the Edge 50 Ultra has the advantage
Higher rated wired charging
The Edge 50 Ultra supports 125W wired charging, versus 90W for the Signature. The Signature, however, has the larger listed battery and offers 50W wireless charging, 10W reverse wireless charging and 5W reverse wired charging. The Edge 50 Ultra is listed for up to 50W wireless charging and 10W wireless power sharing. Wattage ratings alone do not establish how long a full charge takes; real speeds can depend on the charger, conditions and charging stage.
Higher telephoto megapixel count
The Edge 50 Ultra’s telephoto camera is listed at 64MP with 3× optical zoom; the Signature’s periscope telephoto is listed at 50MP with 3× optical zoom. Both phones also have 50MP main and ultrawide rear cameras. Megapixel count and zoom type do not settle which camera produces better images: a fair verdict would require comparative photo testing across lighting and subjects.

Is the Signature worth upgrading to?
The Signature is the more natural choice if you want the newer processor, a longer stated support window, a larger and faster-refresh display, a thinner and lighter phone, or greater stated battery capacity. The Edge 50 Ultra may be the better fit if 125W wired charging is a priority or if its current local price is meaningfully lower.
For an upgrade decision, compare the actual local price difference with the features you will use. The published specifications support a case for the Signature’s newer platform and support policy, but they do not establish a universal performance or camera winner. Check regional availability, network compatibility, exact memory and storage configuration, and the support terms for the specific model you plan to buy.
