The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion and Moto G96 5G share the same listed Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset and a 6.67-inch FHD+ 144 Hz pOLED display, so the choice comes down to features: the Edge 50 Fusion adds NFC and 68 W charging, while the G96 has a larger 5,500 mAh battery and launched with Android 15. Prices and stock vary, so check the exact India variant before buying.

Performance and display: close on paper
Same named chipset, not a performance guarantee
Both India listings name the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. That makes the processor a weak reason to choose one over the other on paper, but the shared chipset does not prove identical real-world speed, thermals, or sustained performance. No controlled performance testing is available here.
Matching headline display specifications
Each phone is listed with a 6.67-inch FHD+ pOLED screen supporting up to 144 Hz. Both also have curved screens. The headline figures are closely matched; they do not establish that brightness, calibration, or outdoor visibility are identical.

Battery and charging: larger capacity or higher charging wattage
The G96 lists a 5,500 mAh battery, 500 mAh more than the Edge 50 Fusion’s 5,000 mAh. The Edge counters with 68 W TurboPower charging versus 33 W on the G96. Capacity alone does not determine runtime, and the stated charging wattage does not establish actual charge time; neither was measured in a controlled comparison.
Camera hardware: check the regional G96 variant
Motorola’s India Edge 50 Fusion page lists a 50 MP main camera and 13 MP ultrawide. The India comparison listing identifies an 8 MP ultrawide for the G96. A Motorola G96 support page for the US describes a 50 MP Sony Lytia 700C main camera with OIS and an 8 MP autofocus ultrawide, but those US details should not be treated as confirmation of India hardware. See the G96 camera support page and India comparison listing.
The Edge has the higher-resolution ultrawide specification in the India comparison, but megapixel counts do not establish which phone takes better photos. Look for tests of the exact regional variants if camera results are decisive.

NFC and durability
NFC is a practical Edge 50 Fusion advantage
Motorola lists NFC on the India Edge 50 Fusion and no NFC on the India Moto G96 5G. If you rely on NFC-dependent features, that difference may settle the choice. Confirm the precise market SKU, since specifications can vary by region.
Both list IP68
Motorola lists an IP68 rating for each phone. The rating does not establish identical warranty coverage or tolerance for damage and misuse; check the warranty terms that apply to the device and seller.
Android versions and G96 update schedule
The Edge 50 Fusion’s India specification page lists Android 14, while the G96 launched on Android 15. Motorola’s India security update page says the G96 launched in June 2025, lists Android 16 as its next OS, and schedules security updates through June 2028. Motorola says updates are at least bimonthly and warns that plans are informational, may change, and can vary by region and channel; the page does not provide a firm Android 16 release date.

On 4 October 2026, 91mobiles displayed the Edge 50 Fusion at ₹18,999 via Flipkart and the Moto G96 5G at ₹20,999, marked out of stock. That is a ₹2,000 listing difference at the time accessed, not a guaranteed checkout price or a stable market comparison. The same page lists release timing as May 2024 for the Edge and July 2025 for the G96. See the 91mobiles price comparison.

Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Edge 50 Fusion if you need NFC, value the higher stated charging wattage, or prefer its 13 MP ultrawide specification—and its current price is favorable.
- Choose the Moto G96 5G if the larger stated battery or Android 15 starting point matters more, and its live price and availability make sense.
- Compare exact regional variants if camera performance, battery runtime, or support duration is your deciding factor; the listed specifications alone do not settle those questions.
