The Motorola Edge 40 is the smaller option and adds 15W wireless charging; the Edge 50 Fusion has a larger screen and higher stated battery capacity. Both are listed with 144Hz displays and IP68 ratings in the cited regional specifications. For price, the available comparison is Motorola India’s listing: it showed ₹26,999 for the Edge 40 with 8GB/256GB and ₹20,999 for the Edge 50 Fusion with 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB choices, observed on October 4, 2026. Those are regional, configuration-sensitive listings—not a like-for-like or guaranteed current price comparison.

Specifications can vary by market and model variant. The Edge 40 figures above come from Motorola Germany, while the Edge 50 Fusion memory and core specifications come from Motorola India. Check the exact regional model before buying: Motorola Edge 40 specifications, Motorola Edge 50 Fusion specifications and Motorola India’s additional Edge 50 Fusion listing.
What is the price difference?
Motorola India’s family listing showed the Edge 40 at ₹26,999 for 8GB/256GB and the Edge 50 Fusion at ₹20,999, with 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB choices shown. The figures were observed on October 4, 2026, and are regional listing prices that can change; the Fusion’s displayed amount is not clearly tied to one of the listed memory configurations. Check the current Motorola India Edge family listing and compare the same RAM/storage tier, seller and condition before deciding. These figures should not be treated as prices for other markets.
For context, Motorola announced a European launch MSRP of €599.99 for the Edge 40 in 2023. That is a historical launch price, not a current selling price, and it should not be directly compared with the India listing for the newer Fusion. Motorola’s Edge 40 launch announcement also made a manufacturer charging claim: its 68W charger could provide median users up to 12 hours of battery life after 10 minutes of charging under Motorola’s stated testing assumptions. This is not an independent battery test.

Which phone has the better display and size?
The Edge 40’s 6.55-inch panel makes it the more compact choice of these two. The Edge 50 Fusion’s 6.67-inch display offers more screen area, which may suit video, reading or split-screen use. Both regional specification pages list FHD+ pOLED panels with 144Hz refresh rates, so the listed refresh rate does not distinguish them. Display details: Edge 40 and Edge 50 Fusion.
Battery life and charging: wireless charging is the key difference
The Edge 50 Fusion has the larger stated battery capacity at 5,000mAh versus 4,400mAh for the Edge 40, and both are listed with 68W wired charging in the cited specifications. Capacity alone does not establish which phone lasts longer in real use; usage, settings, network conditions and software affect endurance.

These chipset names and storage specifications do not establish which phone is faster in a particular task. No comparative benchmark results are available here, so a performance winner cannot be stated on that basis alone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Camera specifications and what can be compared
Motorola’s Edge 40 launch announcement specifies a 50MP f/1.4 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus a 13MP ultrawide camera that also supports macro photography. The cited Edge 50 Fusion specification material does not provide enough camera-by-camera detail for an equivalent comparison. There is therefore no sound basis here to name a camera winner; compare the full local camera specifications or independent tests for the exact variants you can buy. Motorola Edge 40 launch details.
IP68 water resistance: what the rating does and does not mean
Both phones are listed with IP68 protection in the cited Motorola material. That rating is not a promise that either phone is waterproof or safe for deliberate underwater use. Motorola’s Edge 40 disclaimer says testing was conducted under controlled laboratory conditions, warns that resistance decreases with normal wear, and states: “Not waterproof.” Exposure beyond the stated conditions is not covered by the warranty. Check the warranty and regional product terms for the phone you own or plan to buy. Sources: Edge 40 specifications, Edge 40 launch disclaimer and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion product page.

Which should you buy?
- Choose the Edge 40 if you prefer the smaller 6.55-inch phone or want the listed 15W wireless charging, and the exact local price and remaining software/support terms make sense for you.
- Choose the Edge 50 Fusion if you want the larger 6.67-inch display or higher stated battery capacity, and its regional price and configuration suit your budget.
- Compare before paying if performance, camera quality, battery endurance or value is decisive. The supplied specifications do not settle those real-world comparisons; verify the exact SKU, local price, carrier compatibility and available software support for your market.
