The India-market Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is the newer, higher-specification phone on paper: it has a larger, sharper display, a newer processor, Android 16 and a 7,000 mAh battery. The documented Edge 40 Neo configuration has a smaller 6.55-inch 144Hz display, a 5,000 mAh battery and Android 13. Both list 68W wired charging. A current, like-for-like India price difference cannot be established from the available figures because the Edge 40 Neo’s comparable current India price is not stated.
At a glance: Edge 40 Neo vs Edge 70 Fusion
This comparison uses Motorola’s documented Edge 40 Neo configuration and the India version of the Edge 70 Fusion. Motorola says Edge 70 Fusion specifications may vary by market, so figures for another country’s model should not be substituted.

Specifications are manufacturer-published values, not comparative test results. The available sources do not establish which phone performs better in benchmarks, takes better photos, or lasts longer in independent battery testing.

Edge 70 Fusion has the newer platform and larger screen
For India, Motorola lists the Edge 70 Fusion with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and Android 16, compared with the Edge 40 Neo’s Dimensity 7030 and Android 13 in Motorola’s documented configuration. The Fusion’s 6.8-inch panel also has a higher listed resolution than the Neo’s 6.55-inch screen. Both are specified at up to 144Hz, so the refresh-rate figure alone does not distinguish them.

Those details make the Edge 70 Fusion the stronger choice on current listed platform and display specifications. They do not prove a particular speed advantage in everyday use: no directly comparable benchmark results are established here.
Battery capacity is higher on the India Fusion; charging wattage is tied
The India Edge 70 Fusion is listed with a 7,000 mAh battery, versus 5,000 mAh for the Edge 40 Neo. That is a difference in rated capacity, not a measured prediction of screen-on time. Screen size, software, signal conditions and usage affect real battery life.
Both models list 68W wired charging. Motorola’s India support page says the Edge 70 Fusion package includes a 68W charger. The cited Edge 40 Neo specification and product pages list 68W charging but do not establish equivalent box contents for every market.

Camera hardware is not the same as camera quality
Motorola lists a 50MP and 13MP rear-camera setup for the Edge 40 Neo, and a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) plus a 13MP ultrawide for the India Edge 70 Fusion. Motorola’s cited Edge 40 Neo support listing specifies a 32MP front camera; the cited India Edge 70 Fusion support page does not state a front-camera figure.
Megapixel counts and the presence of OIS describe hardware, not the quality of photos or video. The available evidence does not support a camera winner based on comparative testing.
Protection ratings differ, but neither should be called waterproof
The Edge 40 Neo is listed as IP68; the India Edge 70 Fusion is listed as IP68/IP69 and also carries a MIL-STD 810H listing. These are manufacturer specifications, not permission to expose a phone to water or harsh conditions without regard to its warranty and care guidance. Motorola’s Edge 40 Neo launch page says its IP68 resistance was tested under controlled laboratory conditions and that the phone is not designed to work while submerged underwater.

Why the Edge 70 Fusion’s country version matters
The Edge 70 Fusion is not described with one globally uniform specification set. Motorola’s India support page lists Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and a 7,000 mAh battery. Motorola’s UK product page instead lists Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, a 5,200 mAh battery, up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. It also describes a 6.78-inch 1.5K 144Hz display and promises three Android OS upgrades for that UK product. Those UK specifications should not be applied to an India purchase.
For an India comparison, use the India model’s specifications and check the exact configuration offered by the seller. The Edge 40 Neo support specification cited here is a Motorola Spanish-language support listing and documents 8GB RAM and 256GB storage; configurations can differ by region.

A reliable current price gap between the two phones cannot be calculated from the established figures: a comparable current India price for the Edge 40 Neo is not stated. Do not subtract its European launch MSRP from an India price or treat an old launch price as a live quote.

Edge 70 Fusion India price history and listing
Business Standard reported these India launch prices on 2026-03-06, with general availability reported from 2026-03-12:
| Edge 70 Fusion India configuration | Reported launch price |
|---|---|
| 8GB RAM / 128GB storage | ₹26,999 |
| 8GB RAM / 256GB storage | ₹29,999 |
| 12GB RAM / 256GB storage | ₹32,999 |
On 2026-10-04, Motorola India storefront search results displayed Edge 70 Fusion configurations including 8GB/128GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB at a displayed price of ₹38,999 against an MRP of ₹50,999. That is a dated, volatile listing observation, not a guaranteed price for every variant or a current offer; check the live listing for the specific storage tier, seller and promotion.
Why the Edge 40 Neo figure is not a fair India comparison
Motorola’s 2023 Edge 40 Neo announcement gave a European starting MSRP of €399 and directed readers to local PR teams for local pricing and availability. It does not establish an India launch price or a current India retail price. Consequently, the current India price difference depends on a live Edge 40 Neo listing, the Edge 70 Fusion storage tier, seller and any promotion; the sources do not establish a single defensible rupee delta.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Edge 70 Fusion if its India configuration and live price fit
- You want the newer listed processor and Android version, a larger higher-resolution display, or the higher rated battery capacity.
- You need the India model’s listed IP68/IP69 ratings or OIS on its main rear camera.
- You can confirm the precise RAM/storage variant, seller and current price before buying.
Consider the Edge 40 Neo if you find a suitable, verified listing
- You prefer a smaller 6.55-inch phone; the documented Neo configuration is also lighter than the India Fusion.
- You find a legitimate India listing at a price that makes sense against the Fusion’s live price. The available figures do not establish current Neo stock or price.
- You are comfortable with the older Android 13 specification documented on Motorola’s support listing; the cited evidence does not establish an update commitment for this configuration.
