Yes, with important qualifications. The Moto G96 5G combines a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, 8GB RAM, a 144Hz curved pOLED display, a 5,500mAh battery and IP68 protection—an unusually complete package for a value phone. Its one-year OS-update policy, lack of microSD storage and weaker ultrawide, selfie and video results keep it from being an automatic winner for every buyer.
What you get for the money
Motorola launched the Moto G96 5G in India in July 2025 at a starting price of ₹17,999. Gadgets 360 listed an Amazon India price of ₹21,099 on 30 September 2026. That later figure must be read with its date, seller and storage variant because retail pricing and stock can change.

Performance: Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is the central argument
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 uses four Cortex-A78 cores running at up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at up to 1.95GHz. Combined with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, that is a credible mid-range platform for everyday multitasking, 5G use and gaming at sensible settings. Apps, navigation, camera processing and split-screen work should have a stronger foundation than entry-level 5G phones.
#1 Best Overall
- NEW built-in stylus. Jot notes, edit photos, sketch artwork, and navigate effortlessly with an improved stylus and updated software.
- 6.7" pOLED display and Dolby Atmos. Experience cinema-quality entertainment with over a billion shades of color and multidimensional sound*.
- 50MP Ultra Pixel camera + OIS. Capture sharper low-light photos and smoother videos with an unshakable camera system featuring Optical Image Stabilization.
- 30W TurboPower charging + over a day battery. Get hours of power in just minutes of charging, then work and play with unbelievable battery life**.
- Standout design. Make a statement with its stunning look, modern color, and soft, vegan leather finish.
No independent benchmark results establish sustained performance here, so the chip should not be presented as a guarantee of flagship-level gaming or long sessions without throttling. Buyers who play demanding 3D games should compare sustained-performance tests and thermals before choosing it.
The display is the standout feature
The 6.67-inch FHD+ 3D-curved pOLED panel is unusually ambitious for this price range. Motorola specifies a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, 10-bit color, full DCI-P3 coverage and a claimed peak brightness of 1,600 nits. A high refresh rate can make scrolling and supported games look smoother, while the OLED panel provides the contrast and deep blacks associated with the technology.
The 1,600-nit number is a peak claim rather than a guarantee of sustained full-screen brightness. Outdoor visibility also depends on automatic-brightness behavior, sunlight and the content being shown. Curved edges look distinctive but can introduce reflections, accidental touches or more expensive screen repairs than a flat design.

Battery life and charging
Motorola fits a 5,500mAh battery and 33W TurboPower charging. That capacity supports an all-day-use expectation for many people, but actual endurance varies with 5G reception, display brightness, refresh-rate selection, gaming and camera use. Charging speed is useful for top-ups, though it is not among the fastest systems in the broader smartphone market.
Camera quality: strong main sensor, weaker supporting cameras
Main camera
The 50MP Sony Lytia 700C main camera includes optical image stabilization. OIS can reduce hand movement in still photos and help maintain steadier footage, making this the most convincing part of the camera specification.
Ultrawide and macro
The 8MP ultrawide has a 118.6-degree field of view and doubles as a macro camera. Gadgets 360’s review summary identified the ultrawide as a weakness, so the phone’s headline camera should not be treated as evidence that every rear camera matches the main sensor.

- Verizon Unlocked Model. Will work with Most GSM AND CDMA SIM cards in the U.S. and the world including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Straight Talk, Global GSM Carriers. Device may Require activation over WIFI before using.
Selfies and video
Motorola lists a 32MP selfie camera and 4K/30 video recording from the front camera, rear main camera and ultrawide. Gadgets 360 reported low-light selfie and video-quality shortcomings. For frequent night selfies, demanding stabilization or consistently high-quality video, a competing phone may be a safer choice despite lower headline megapixels.

IP68 protection has specific limits
Motorola’s support guide says: “Tested under controlled laboratory conditions, the phone is water, splash, and dust resistant to a rating of IP68 (IEC 60529).” It says the device can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of still, fresh water for up to 30 minutes, while warning that resistance decreases with normal wear and that the phone is not waterproof.
Treat IP68 as protection against specified accidental exposure, not permission to use the phone underwater, in salt water, in a pool or while charging. A case can still be sensible protection against drops and daily abrasion.

- Premium design within reach: Stand out with a stunning look and comfortable feel, including a vegan leather back cover that’s soft to the touch and fingerprint resistant.
Software, storage and ownership trade-offs
Updates
Gadgets 360 lists one year of OS updates as a drawback. That is a significant limitation if you keep phones for several years, because Android-version longevity and security support affect app compatibility and risk over time. Confirm Motorola’s current security-update schedule for your exact region before purchase.
Storage
The 128GB and 256GB choices cover different usage levels, but there is no microSD slot. Choose 256GB if you record substantial 4K video, keep large games offline or plan to retain the phone for years; storage cannot be expanded later.
Accessories and charger
Motorola specifies USB-C and 33W TurboPower charging. Check the live retail listing to see whether a charger is included rather than assuming it is. A model-specific protective case is a practical accessory, particularly with a curved display.

How it compares with alternatives
Price changes make a fixed winner unreliable. A meaningful comparison should check the live price and storage variant for the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G, Realme P3 Pro 5G, CMF Phone 2 Pro, Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and Lava Virat Curve 5G, then weigh the following criteria:
- Sustained performance: not just the processor name, but gaming thermals and long-session behavior.
- Screen: panel type, usable brightness, refresh rate and whether you prefer curved or flat glass.
- Cameras: main-camera results versus ultrawide, selfie and video consistency.
- Endurance: battery capacity and charging speed under your network and workload.
- Durability: IP rating and repair implications.
- Support: promised Android and security-update duration.
- Storage: included capacity and expansion options.
- Box contents: charger, case and regional accessories.
Who should buy the Moto G96 5G?
- Choose it if you prioritize a premium-looking curved OLED display, strong main-camera hardware, large battery and IP68 protection at a value-phone price.
- Choose the 256GB version if you keep games, photos or 4K video locally.
- Look elsewhere if long software support, a dependable ultrawide camera, low-light selfies, high-quality video or expandable storage matters more than display specifications.
- Recheck the price immediately before ordering; ₹17,999 was Motorola’s 2025 starting price, while ₹21,099 was a Gadgets 360-listed Amazon India price dated 30 September 2026.
Verdict
The Moto G96 5G is a serious budget contender because it puts the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, 144Hz curved pOLED display, 5,500mAh battery, OIS-equipped main camera and IP68 rating in one package. It is best described as a phone to beat for display-and-hardware value, not a universal best buy. The short update commitment, fixed storage and less convincing secondary cameras are the reasons to compare before paying the current street price.
