The Moto G86 Power 5G is the battery-first choice, with a listed 6,720mAh battery; the Moto G87 offers a larger, sharper display, a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization, microSD expansion, and a stated security-update period through June 2030. Both list 30W charging. There is no reliable current price difference without comparing local listings for matching configurations: the available European launch-price reports are from different dates and configurations.
How the Moto G86 Power and Moto G87 compare
The figures below come from Motorola’s US support pages, which caution that specifications can vary by market. Treat them as a comparison of the listed specifications, not a guarantee that every regional version has the same configuration.

Which phone has the better battery?
The G86 Power has 1,520mAh more listed capacity: 6,720mAh versus 5,200mAh. Motorola’s US support page claims up to 50 hours for the G86 Power. Its UK product page instead claims up to 53 hours and explains that the estimate is approximate, based on a median user’s assumed mixed-use profile under optimal network conditions. These are market-specific manufacturer claims, not directly comparable independent measurements.
#1 Best Overall
- For USA Buyers: This Smartphone is not compatible/will not work with any CDMA Networks including: VERIZON, SPRINT, US CELLULAR. Please check with your network provider for 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G compatibility check before you purchase. OUTSIDE THE USA WORKS ANY CARRIER WORLDWIDE
- 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM, microSDXC (dedicated slot), SIM Configuration: 1 physical Nano-SIM + 1 eSIM. This phone does NOT support two physical SIM cards. eSIM activation depends on carrier compatibility and availability.
- 6.67 inches, P-OLED, 1B colors, 1220 x 2712 pixels
- Android 15, Mediatek Dimensity 7300 (4 nm), Octa-core (4x2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
- Rear: 50 MP, f/1.9, 25mm (wide), 1/1.95", 0.8µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS, 8 MP, f/2.2, 12mm, 118˚ (ultrawide), 1.12µm, AF, Front: 32 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 0.7µm
Both models list 30W charging capability. Motorola says the G86 Power needs a Motorola TurboPower 30W charger to reach its maximum claimed speed, and that charger is sold separately. Check the local package contents and charger compatibility before buying. Motorola’s G87 specification page describes 30W device charging capability.
How do their displays differ?
The G87 has the larger listed display at 6.78 inches, compared with 6.67 inches on the G86 Power. It also has the higher pixel count: 1272 × 2772 versus 2712 × 1220. Motorola’s pages present the dimensions in different orientations, so compare the width-by-height pairs rather than assuming the first number is always the same dimension.
Both are listed at 120Hz. Motorola claims peak brightness of 5000 nits for the G87 and 4500 nits for the G86 Power’s HDR peak. Peak-brightness figures can depend on display mode and measurement conditions; they do not establish which screen will look brighter in every setting.
What do the camera specifications establish?
Motorola lists a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP front camera for the G87. The cited G86 Power support result does not provide camera specifications, so it does not support a complete camera-spec comparison.

Megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better photos. The available specifications do not provide independent camera testing, and they are not enough to compare image quality in daylight, low light, video, or other real-world conditions.
What about software support, storage, and durability?
Software support
The cited Motorola US pages list Android 15 for the G86 Power and Android 16 for the G87. Motorola explicitly states security updates through June 2030 for the G87. The cited G86 Power page does not provide a matching end date, so there is no supported like-for-like update-period comparison here.
Storage and expansion
The US G86 Power support page lists 8GB of physical RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The G87 page lists 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, with microSD expansion up to 2TB. These are regional page specifications; verify the exact RAM, storage, and card support for the model sold in your country.
Water and dust resistance
The listed ratings are IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD 810H for the G86 Power, and IP66/IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD 810H for the G87. These are manufacturer-published ratings, not a promise that either phone is waterproof or impervious to damage. Motorola’s G86 product page notes that laboratory testing does not mean waterproof and that resistance can decrease with wear. Keep exposure and the device’s condition in mind rather than treating ratings as permission to submerge a phone.

What is the price difference?
The available reports describe launch prices, not current prices or a like-for-like comparison:
- Moto G86 Power: €329 at launch in Spain, reported in May 2025 (Cinco Días / Smartlife).
- Moto G87: €399 for the 8GB/256GB configuration and €469 for the 12GB/256GB configuration at European launch, reported in April 2026 (Cinco Días / Smartlife).
Because the reports are about different launch dates and configurations, the figures do not establish today’s price gap, a uniform price across Europe, or what either phone costs in another country. For a useful buying comparison, check current local listings on the same day and match RAM and storage where possible.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the G86 Power if battery capacity is your priority
Its listed battery is larger, and its US support page gives an “up to 50 hours” claim. The US page also lists 512GB of internal storage, though regional configurations may differ.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Choose the G87 if its listed extras fit your needs
It has the larger, higher-resolution display, a specified 200MP main camera with OIS, microSD expansion, and a security-update end date stated through June 2030. Those are concrete specification differences; they do not, by themselves, prove better gaming performance, camera results, or overall value.
Compare local versions before paying
First confirm each phone is actually sold in your market and check its exact RAM, storage, included accessories, and current price. Motorola’s cited pages do not provide independent benchmark results, so processor names alone cannot establish a speed or gaming winner. Likewise, battery capacity and peak-brightness claims do not replace controlled real-world testing.
