For India-market buyers, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion has the stronger listed hardware: a larger battery, faster charging, a newer listed Android version, NFC, and higher water-and-dust protection ratings. The Moto G85 is lighter and was listed at a lower Amazon India price in the 91mobiles snapshot cited below. These are manufacturer specifications and price listings—not results from hands-on testing—and prices can change.
This comparison uses Motorola’s India specifications for the Moto G85 5G and Motorola Edge 70 Fusion. Motorola says specifications can vary by market; the Japan Edge 70 Fusion is a different configuration and is covered separately below.

These are the specifications listed by Motorola for India. They do not establish real-world battery life, charging time, processor performance, display quality, or durability under particular conditions.

On its comparison page accessed in 2026, 91mobiles displayed Amazon India prices of ₹17,840 for the Moto G85 and ₹28,950 for the Edge 70 Fusion. Subtracting those displayed prices gives a difference of ₹11,110. These are volatile listing snapshots, not guaranteed current prices, and the comparison page does not establish that the listings are for identical storage configurations. Check the seller’s live listing and exact variant before buying.

What the specification differences mean
Battery and charging
The Edge 70 Fusion’s India listing gives it a 7,000mAh battery and 68W charging, compared with the G85’s 5,000mAh battery and 33W charging. That makes the Edge the stronger paper choice if capacity and rated charging speed are priorities. The figures alone cannot predict how long either phone lasts or how quickly it charges in everyday use.

Display and size
Both India models are listed with 144Hz refresh rates, but the Edge has the larger panel at 6.8 inches, versus 6.67 inches on the G85. Motorola describes the G85 panel as pOLED and the Edge panel as AMOLED. Those labels and refresh rates are not a substitute for comparative brightness, color, or outdoor-visibility testing.
Platform and connectivity
Motorola lists the Edge with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and Android 16, while the G85 listing specifies a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 and Android 14. The listed versions make the Edge the newer platform on paper, but the specifications here do not establish a performance benchmark or either model’s future software-update schedule.

The Edge listing includes NFC and Wi-Fi 6E; the G85 listing says NFC is absent and lists Wi-Fi 5. If contactless features or newer Wi-Fi support matter to you, verify that your carrier, router, apps, and region support the feature you intend to use.
Protection and weight
Motorola lists IP68/IP69 for the Edge and IP52 for the G85. These manufacturer ratings distinguish their stated protection levels, but they are not independent durability tests and should not be treated as a guarantee against damage in every exposure or over time. The G85 is the lighter phone in the listings, at 172g versus 193g for the Edge; that 21g difference may matter if you prefer a lighter handset.

Which phone is the better fit?
- Choose the Edge 70 Fusion on paper if you prioritize a larger listed battery, faster rated charging, the newer listed Android version, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, or the higher listed IP ratings—and accept the higher price in the cited snapshot and greater weight.
- Consider the Moto G85 if lower upfront cost in the cited snapshot and lighter weight matter more, and its listed battery, charging, Android version, connectivity, and IP52 rating meet your needs.
Before purchase, confirm the exact India model and storage configuration, seller price, warranty coverage, and availability where you live. The provided manufacturer specification listings do not establish local warranty terms or availability.
Do not confuse the India and Japan Edge 70 Fusion
Motorola’s Japan store listing is not the same configuration as the India model. The Japan page lists a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, a ¥79,800 price, and a scheduled release date of October 23, 2026; Motorola India lists the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and different memory choices. Reported launch dates
91mobiles reports July 16, 2024, as the Moto G85 launch date and March 6, 2026, as the Edge 70 Fusion launch date. These dates are reported by that comparison source; they do not establish when either model became available in every market.
